I believe the technical term is "SCORE"
Jun. 16th, 2006 11:51 pmSAINT LAURENT BLVD. STREET FAIR, 9PM
Sabina: AHHHH DID YOU JUST PUT AWAY THE BOXES OF CDS THAT WERE HERE I MEAN TO BUY THEM, I WAS SIDETRACKED BY THE TEN FOR $5 SINGLES BIN SEE HERE.
Ten For $5 Singles Girl: Oh, you mean Turbo Records? That's not me. The other girl packed up and left five minutes ago.
Sabina:
Sabina: WHEN ARE YOU GUYS COMING BACK TOMORROW I'LL BE WAITING.
Ten singles for $5:
Aqua - Barbie Girl (come on like you wouldn't drop a quarter to hear the eight-minute dub of this)
Basement Jaxx - Bingo Bongo (the sound of Latin American football fans using the street fair as an excuse to party down hard on upper St. Laurent)
Basement Jaxx - Rendez-Vu (no, seriously, I am uneducated re early(?) Jaxx, I had no idea they made stuff that sounds like this)
Bus Stop feat. Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting (see note for Barbie Girl)
Chicane - No Ordinary Morning/Halcyon (holy shit love ♥)
Eurythmics - 17 Again
Super Discount 2 - Fast Track (Vocal Mix)
William Orbit - Ravel's Pavane pour une Infante Défunte (surprisingly good for something I bought to terrorize my sister with)
Peshay vs. Flytronix - Satisfy My Love (funk-ay)
Underworld - Spikee/Dogman Go Woof
This makes the third time in two weeks I was complimented on my choice of purchase by a sales clerk (Black Powder War and Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi. 2 respectively). Dunno - while it's always gratifying to have one's taste validated by a complete stranger, in the long run it reinforces that thread of paranoia that clerks in shops are judging you on what you buy the rest of the time as well, and possibly sneering. *g* And today's was classic used record shop counter masquerading as a picnic table out in the middle of the street, i.e. "Actually, this is a pretty good single. *turns over next CD* ...This is a good single too." And then you get the look that says your security clearance has been revised up to "possibility of good taste". MAYBE I AM NOT HIPSTER/SONICS NERD ENOUGH IN APPEARANCE? TOMORROW I RETURN WITH MUTEK T-SHIRT.
...No seriously, the Turbo Records chick was clearing them out at 5 CDs for 20$. How much are you paying for your Märtini Brös albums?
