Mar. 26th, 2006 10:37 pmFinished the Yukikaze novel. Not only do you not know whether Rei is still alive at the end, you're not even sure if Jack and the other pilot dude are alive and not - say - squished to a pulp by Yukikaze II. Which is kind of great when you consider that the sequel wasn't published until fifteen years afterward. >_>
Actually the dude is supposedly writing the third book now? I can't begin to imagine what it's about. I suspect the plot goes the way of Dune or Ender's Game.
Because this is the 20th anniversary edition there are essays appended to the end, and quite interesting essays at that. The first one actually addresses the point I was griping about a few entries ago, re the misattribution of "inhuman" as a quality - well, the essayist thinks it's intentional and you're not supposed to agree with the characters' assessments, which is fair enough. The second one is sort of LOL EPISTEMOLOGY LOL. It quotes Heidegger. (It should be possible to write a breakdown of Bleach according to epistemological concerns - anti-Ichigo anyone?)
...Speaking of which I should work on my Bleach fic too. ^^; Are there any interesting memes going around, btw? I sort of feel like doing one but there's nothing visibly sweeping the flist. I guess we're heading into finals period.
EDIT -- *eyeballs April FST authors list* ........For sanity's sake I should probably pretend this isn't happening. Though one way or the other I haven't posted an FST for ages. ^^;
