Fanfiction:
Bass Frequencies (XMFC, m/m, AU)
Crocus (Swordspoint, m/m, post-series)
The Motion of Bodies in Public Spaces (Captain America, gen?, WIP)
Super Detka (Captain America, m/m, ridiculous)
...and Yuletide story which I'll edit for after reveals tomorrow. Shadow and Light (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, implied m/m, implied everything)

I'm also working on two other short stories, but neither will be done before 11:59 tonight. XD

Non-fiction:
One Week One Band, January: Charlotte Gainsbourg
One Week One Band, December: The Libertines
...plus 101 song reviews for The Singles Jukebox, plus or minus one. (There doesn't seem to be a way to filter to the reviewer, but I have them all saved in a file.)

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
About what I would have predicted, fic-wise. Less original fiction despite efforts -- I've about decided to blow it up and work on a different project. More and better-quality music writing; by hanging around ppl who take it seriously on Tumblr, I finally let myself take it seriously.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
weirdly enough, Steve/Bucky. Steve/Bucky is only interesting in my head because of the Winter Soldier complication, and fandom only discovered that when the movie was announced.

What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?: "Crocus."

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?:
One Week One Band was the hugest writing risk -- both times stage fright, which I'd never experienced with a writing project before (I mean, writing is not usually a real time performance!); both times I hit a point mid-week where I was aware that I was operating waaaaay out on the edge, but with confidence that I would pull through -- and in a different way, so was The Singles Jukebox. It's the first year for a few years now that I think I've improved as a writer. I'll probably expand on this on Tumblr.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
I need to write at least another original story, and I need to write it now, because I'd like to submit to the Clarions this year. XD; In the end I feel like I can't send in my older stuff -- none of it is the best I can do anymore. And I know what I want to write.

My best story of this year: does the fangirl tragedy of Peter and Carl count?

Most fun story to write: toss-up between "Bass Frequencies" and "Super Detka."

Story with the single sexiest moment: I'd give this to Richard and Alec's non-touching, which is what fuels this fandom for me, rather than the touching.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: several of these were written for the lulz, but I don't think any of them are that wrong. You could do way worse than sex pollen Captain America.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: "Shadow and Light." This was knotty enough to be interesting, because the recipient asked for Guillam character study. One ended up having to toss out most of the detailed Guillam background from the books, because of the sexuality issue; while still retaining the same sense of character.

Hardest story to write: "Crocus." Annie Dillard says not to let the effort you put in affect your critical judgment of the work, but hey, she said nothing about emotional attachment. Weirdly enough, for all that "Crocus" took glacial eons, the Yuletide story was basically the same thing and took two days to write.

Biggest Disappointment: running into immediate structural snafus with "The Motion..." That one should have been finished well before now.

Biggest Surprise: not quitting The Singles Jukebox in a fit of self-loathing.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: "Super Detka." At some point you have to be like, well, obviously I can write stuff other than spy capers, I just don't care to.

i was reading your libs articlethingumie and omg - I made a playlist interspersing Up The Bracket with We Are The Pipettes

omg because my (recently created) dreamwidth tag for the libs is from a pipettes song and it was before i read your thing and now i feel oddly connected to your playlist even tho i chose it for dance reasons otherwise it would have been freedom of speech won't feed my children. idek.

My best story of this year: does the fangirl tragedy of Peter and Carl count?

I tried to read your Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy story, but it was a little too character-study-when-you-don't-know-the-characters for me - since I only got one chapter into The Spy Who Came in From the Cold before giving up on all early Le Carre. I liked the part where Guillam arranged things so David Cornwell (XD)would get the credit for finding the bug in the bathroom, though.

My favorite story by you this year is Crocus, and my second favorite is Super Dekta. :( If you are giving up on the original story with the unusual magic affinities, though! That one would have been a great for roleplaying.

Speaking of writing - there's going to be an informal roundtable on Django Unchained at the Hooded Utilitarian. Stuff going up next week and the week after. Do you want to write something?

Is Guillam a very unobtrusive, officey-type character?

Everyone just reviews movie. Me too, even though there are a million better-qualified film geeks out there. ^^ And, yay! :D
