Which is just as well. My brain is eaten by this Byakuya/Hisana story I read off Chrissie's Cfic BBS. It had extempore poetry, wuxia swordfighting, what Byakuya's mother always told him about the marriage game, OBVIOUS TRAGEDY and a "what if" plot twist to buckle one's knees like a well-applied baseball bat. Before that I read a Byakuya/Rukia. It was Canyons of Angst in the true Cfic style, but then again it was Byakuya and Rukia. (I am still very bothered that they are not really related. If that kind of tireless capacity for fixing one's gaze on impossible internal standards to the exclusion of - oh say - what anyone else actually thinks or feels isn't inherited, then... what? Also their bangs fall the same.)

I'm disturbed by the fact that these are the stories that I find least burninating on the eyes, but there you are. I'm kind of scared to read the Aizen fics.

Somewhere in there were 820,556 fics that caused me to write mental letters to the editor protesting Renji's characterisation, and one in which Yoruichi is a wuxia assassin in male scholar drag making out with Soi Fong in a tea shop.

The characterization was a little strange. Soi Fong was sort of underdressed and indiscriminately homicidal and disturbingly emotionally demonstrative. Also it was really WIP.

It is strange, but I want to read the Byakuya and Hisana one. Maybe I just am wondering how fans envision Byakuya's mother. (Sabina, you seem to be a Byakuya fan... that seems to be the theme of your fanfic reading) Wait. He was actually born in SS, right? Does that mean he's not really dead the way everyone else is dead?

Not really, it's more like Byakuya is the theme of Chrissie's BBS. XD As aforementioned I'm too chicken to read the Aizen fics.

The Byakuya/Hisana story in question really is well-written, though. I'm tempted to translate it, but it's long and contains a fair amount of Chinese poetry.

I do wonder about the dead people. Rukia, Renji, Yachiru etc. were very small children and don't remember their past lives, but what about the others we know come from Rukongai - Zaraki, Rangiku, Gin, Ikkaku and Yumichika and so forth? (The answer to which being, I make up past lives for them in my fic. XD;; I get the impression not much more will be said about the subject in canon.)

Yeah, that's a good point. I'm kind of inlclined to think that most of them are dead, but it's been so long they have forgotten their past lives.

Byakuya/Rukia is sexxy! (Aha that is to say I think that of a lot of pairings but it usually doesn't work out in practice, either because the theory was flawed in the first place or people just never write it the way I nebulously envisage. But this time someone wrote it and it actually sort of worked, to my astonishment.)

I can't make Byakuya/Rukia work in my mind (no matter how right it can be.) The Byakuya/Hisana fic speaks to me mainly because lately I have been re-watching Return of the Condor Heroes (by the gods I can relate so many of kinks back to that series, the most prominent one being my thing for mentor/student relationships,) and we all Byakuya is perfect for a wuxia setting *_*

The thought of Aizen fics creep me.
