[livejournal.com profile] iatros, received card on Friday (I think?). Should've mentioned it over the weekend. I have to say, thus far yours is the twee-est. XD Graphology also predicts your success in the medical profession. XD XD *is shot*

I forgot to do a BPAL review. ^^;

Aizen-Myoo
A bright, bittersweet scent honoring the Japanese Deity of Love and Passion. Aizen-Myoo is one of the vidyarajas, the Shingon’s Radiant Kings of Wisdom. Though Aizen-Myoo possesses the lust, grace and passion of both genders, he most often appears to his followers as male. His face is screwed into a fearsome demonic mask, but this is only the wrathful, fierce countenance he places over himself to guide and empower his children. Aizen-Myoo is the patron of prostitutes, of joyous, unbridled sexuality and of all forms of erotic love and is worshipped by all those in the sex industry, musicians, and – oddly – landlords. Yuzu, kaki, and mikan with cherry blossom and black tea.

I may or may not have requested this one because of Mirage of Blaze. Uh. :D;

"Bright, bittersweet" is precisely the right descriptor. This is one of those scents where you don't know what you're smelling ("Mandarin oranges? No, too bitter...") until you read the description, and then you know exactly what you're smelling. Yuzu! Kaki! It's not really foody, unless you're one of those weirdos who eat fresh citrus peel (you know who you are D:). When I first put it on I thought, "Man, I would've liked this a lot better when I was a teenager,"** but I've been wearing it more than I expected: it's a good morning pick-me-up, and I can't imagine anyone finding it offensive in close quarters. It's not purely citrus oil either. There's the black tea note rounding off the edges - I can tell it's there though I can't really smell it, dunno if that makes sense, I think I drink so much fruit-flavoured black tea I perceive it as 'neutral' - and after a while all the bitter fruit peel burns off and you're left with the persistent, creamy 'cherry blossom' note I recognize from Lush's Cherry Lane / Sakura line (I don't believe it's what real cherry blossom smells like ^^;). The effect is delightfully unpredictable, like putting a terra-cotta orange fabric in the wash and having it come out faint pink.

...Okay, no one but me finds that brand of unpredictability delightful. XD

** Am I the only person who thinks this constantly? "I would've liked this way better when I was a teenager, if I only had the money back then." As if I were so grown-up as all that. It's kind of sad, innit? XD

This stuff is revolutionizing my perfume experience, haha - largely because the imps are portable. My current top three (Venice, Aizen-Myoo, Delight though I ought to add Phantasm) go in a little prescription pill container so they stay upright and airtight, and that goes in my bag. I can put a little on in the morning, let it wear off during the day and replace with something else for the evening, without having to go home in the interim. V. proper and ladylike.

One hitch, I can no longer put BPAL oils on my left inner wrist because my fake leather watch strap absorbs all of them and even soap doesn't get the scent out. It's like wearing an unidentifiable blend in a scent bracelet. XD;;

You know, I might be tempted to try this stuff. IF THEY WOULD STOP THE NAMING WANK DEAR CHRIST ON A STICK. Just saying. >_>

(Well, and if I wasn't raised in a fairly fragrance-free environment because of my mother's allergies. I also have a sensitive nose like whoa. Actually.... you wouldn't happen to know of a scent maker that bottles tatami (oh man, rush hour mornings in Kansai, super nostalgic) or brass/chrome scents? I love the smell of that metal--I used to sit with my cheek pressed to the doorknobs in my house as a child for hours. XD But dude, tatami. That would be sweet. Although I'd take straw in a pinch. XD)

But the naming wank is half the reason to buy the things! XD

If I come across a straw-based scent anywhere I'll be sure to let you know. XD

!!!

You know, I can just imagine him smelling like that. Before he went all slick-haired anyway. Except probably with a very faint whiff of ink too.

It took me a while to parse what you were saying. XD

BPAL, I will note, also makes a scent called "Villain".

P.S. Pls tell me you've downloaded my Alec mix already as I'm going to be taking it down in a day or two. *g*

Erm. Am not downloading the mix as currently on dial-up and have my hands full with the DM? ^^;;; Shall instead wait for a repost of Monseiur Alec's take on the dancefloor. (Rather presumptuous of me, I know. Then again, the fans do tend to request for Sabina Mixes. XD)

Aizen-Myoo is really the only one I've liked so far, and I'm too lazy to really get into it. White Rabbit was nice, but it sort of goes all baby-formula on moi.
