Nov. 18th, 2005 09:40 pmOkay I am still backing up data from my hard drive but in the meantime - did anyone actually read the scanned aftertalk to the new Viewfinder tankoubon? Because Yamane-sensei weighs in on the whole Fei Long perceived character thing and *DIES LAUGHING*

Date: 2005-11-19 05:52 am (UTC)NT5 - Overseas Feilong fans wept and sent her letters of protest. Japanese Feilong fans ATE IT UP WITH A SPOON. As in his popularity SPIKED and for that survey period he was getting the sort of fanmail normally reserved for Asami.
This is bamboozling. Yamane-sensei herself was completely bamboozled. I roffled so hard it took me two hours to come up with the following spurious theory: the fans in Japan do not read this series because they want Asami and Takaba to eventually resolve their conflicts and grow into a loving relationship. The fans in Japan read this series because they think it's fun to see Takaba being tortured.
ONCE AGAIN JAPAN WINZ TEH CRACK WARZ

Date: 2005-11-19 05:51 pm (UTC)I think letters from overseas fans used to be rare a decade ago but nowadays are fairly common. It seems to be mostly Asian fans, though, not Western.
Speaking of ultra-jaded sadistic Japanese readers, remind me to write a blurb about Poison Cherry Drive. >_>

Date: 2005-11-19 07:07 pm (UTC)I guess there's a generation of Asian fans who learned Japanese at a level well enough to communicate in the written forms?
Never heard of it...

.....It's not like it causes him any permanent damage; Takaba just bounces back in the end anyway. ^^;;
