And now it is 17C out and pouring tropical rain. I do not understand!

I drown my sorrows by spamming you all with music. (I don't seem to post anything but dance anymore... I dunno, would you guys like to see more indie? Jpop? Folk?)

By popular request:

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Mix)
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (FakeID's Taken It Too Far Mix)
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Live La Cigale Paris 22-04-04)
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Live)
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Morgan Geist Reversion)
Franz Ferdinand vs. Kelis - Take Me Out (Milkshake Remix)

The other song on the black/white mixes of which I have seven versions:

Röyksopp - What Else Is There?
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (Jacques Lu Cont Radio Mix)
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (The Emperor Machine Dub Version)
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (The Emperor Machine Vocal Version)
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (Thin White Duke Mix)
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (Trentemøller Remix)
Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (Vitalic Remix)

At one point I made my sister listen to the original and the TWD remix back-to-back so she could explain to me how the dude made you hear the melody in the relative major of the original minor key or some such.

Eric Prydz - Woz Not Woz: I can only deduce that this samples Was (Not Was), but... From the same album as "Call On Me". Halfway into November I have received one (1) submission for the December issue of [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu. If it were music this is exactly what it would sound like. I have a "club mix" as well but uh, I think the 3:30 version accomplishes all that's necessary. XD

(Sometimes I think of doing a SSBB mix - like just pick a song for each story in an issue, given that I already sequence them in the same way as I would a mix CD. It would have a title like International House of Bang*Bang Presents: Boy's Love Volume One, and the cover art...

...It always does come back to the working computer.)

New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X full length promo mix): Play it in public. Play it at a Christmas party. Watch people try to figure out what they're listening to for a minute and a half while the chemical processes in their brain outpace their conscious minds and they feel unaccountably happier and happier. These days when I hear a Richard X remix I think, "This man has nerve." Other remixers seem to be saying things like, "Look, here's a danceable/ambient/cut-up/whatever version of the song, isn't it neat?" Richard X always seems to be saying, "No offense, but this is what I think the song should sound like." And he doesn't even pick any old track in need of a brush-up!

When you're remixing an "Enjoy The Silence" or a "Bizarre Love Triangle" the challenge is to not end up on the heap of utter redundancy. This mix avoids that fate; it's way higher praise than it sounds like.

D: Needless to say I am getting the BizLovTri, but please to indicate which of the rest are priority to a hapless person on dialup.

Hmm, I wouldn't say most of them are priority to be honest - this is one of those compulsive collector's posts. ^^; The Thin White Duke remix of "What Else Is There?" (and the original if you don't have it). And IIRC the Eric Prydz track doesn't have too large a file size, and is good for lolz and booty shaking.

You really ought to do a mix for BB -- mostly because I'm curious what song(s) you'd pick for my story XD

Hey, you wanna meet up tomorrow or Friday for food and hanging out?

Friday maybe, but it really depends on how fast I can fix up my computer. ^^; Argh, I was going to ask you when you could come out too...

What Else Is There is one of my favorite songs, but I don't have any remixes of it. Thank you for this - you're so excellent!

!!! A million billion thanks for the Bizzare Love Triangle remix; new spins on my favorite anythings (like fanfic XD) are always welcome, especially when they make something so familar so different.

Who's tu-du-ing in between verses? New Order or something other band?

I was wondering that myself! It certainly sounds like Barney to me, but as for where it's from...

if I had a dj set right now it would go a little something like
bizarre love triangle (richard x)
i look into thin air
red letter day (motiv8)
weiche zaune (modernist)
heartbeats (rex)
dinamo
slow/food
what else is there (twd)
no fun!
mandate my ass
and and and and and and and and and god I love this stuff.

i'd only heard the original and trentemoeller of 'what else is there'; oh jlc how are your dj hands so magical (aw man i had an argument with a friend who said he thought remixing must be nothing, i mean, he said, you have all the elements there already...)

! And writing a poem must be easy too, after all the words are right there in the dictionary... The TWD "What Else Is There" completely blew my mind the first time I heard it.

And I think I understated the "Bizarre Love Triangle" remix too. XD I remember Matthew Fluxblog once saying that one invariably writes crap blurbs for the songs one likes the very best, because words fail. I should've left it at multiple hearts strung on multiple sticks, it is as good as love.

Luckily my flist will download anything that is BLT simply because it is BLT. XD

Thank you for the Goldfrapp btw! (Although I don't suppose I could bother you for Dinamo and the JLT you mention below which I don't think I have? XD)

it's just so... PLUR!, you know. It kind of makes me think of this (http://beatresearch.blogspot.com/2005/08/most-ecstacy-soaked-recent-german.html), a little-- with this record - hit caps lock - you remember fondly a certain feelings that were rife among us all in those wild transgressive days... lasers and rave-hands and tipping your head up to the smoky air.
(i saw michael mayer dj on monday! he is back next month as well and i will stay out all night! i == so happy.)

The JLC mix of what you waitin for? which may even be a thin white dook? It's at home; when next I pop back, poss end of term, i'll gmail it you. I just tried to rip dinamo for you using windows media player (which is all there is on these college comps) and it came out in .wma and i do not understand how to make it understand :( i keep saying i'll get the 12" of it - prob is it's way too new to ask on the ysi thread, and anyway since it's not a remix...

Seconding that SSBB mix thing-- the title is way too cool XD

(the music stored on my computer in folders is usually "blah and blah mix", but everything from you is always Sabina/Petronia's blah blah blah mix. I think somewhere you have achieved god status and have a shrine to yourself and worshippers burn blank CDs like paper money.)

Date: 2005-11-18 03:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] petronia.livejournal.com
Well, if that magically gets the blank CDs to me somehow I have need of them! XD O gawd backing up hard drive is such pain.
