I'm halfway through the Hojo-centric side novella. Sa... Satomi Yoshitaka. Now there's a name I never thought to hear again. XD; Also if these assassins are who I think they are they need to die horribly really soon kthx. Nobody messes with the Fujis! Uh, wait, wrong series.

In more hilarious news it turns out Ujiteru black-marker-crossed Naoe out of the photo album of his heart as it were long before he actually met him or Kagetora again. Three years ago the Yashashuu put down a skirmish between the Hojo and one of the Uesugi side-clans, and Naoe sort of broke the arm of... Ujikuni I think?... the third brother.

Ujikuni *wincing*: They're stronger than what we've heard. We'll have to watch out for them.
Ujiteru: Did you get a name? >:E
Ujikuni: Naoe Nobutsuna. Son of Naoe Sanetsuna apparently, you know, the ambassador guy?
Ujiteru: Sanetsuna's... hey, wasn't he on KAGEKATSU'S SIDE DURING OTATE? OMG DIE PLS KTHX. >:EEEE

No luck with the in-laws. Just, none.

I read on one of my webpages that Saburou Kagetora had a proper non-baby Hojo name too - Ujihide, I think it was. But not much is known about him and there's a fair bit of speculation, like there's this theory he was illegitimate and that's why they kept packing him off (the Hojo sons in that generation were all born of the chatelaine, Zuikei-in, which I think was unusual at the time - is probably why they were so close. Kuwabara said she read Ujiyasu and Zuikei-in were both considered v. beautiful people so as far as she's concerned it must've been a handsome family, good genes. XD In Mirage Kagetora took after his mother in looks). Or that there was an Ujihide but it wasn't the same person as Saburou. I mean they had a couple of dead kids along the line like any other family at the time, there were adoptions and name changes and daughters and so forth, and the evidence can be scant. But that is what people get PhDs for eh. XD

sandpanther mentioned that Ujimasa in fact married a daughter of Shingen and Sanjou-no-kata, I assume to cement his treaty with the Takeda after they broke with the Uesugi. Mirage gives her a name: Oubai-in.)
