Trawling ILM
May. 31st, 2005 07:02 pmErr... yay Simon Gallup is not the weakest link?
MUTEK! I knew I forgot something! Ha, well, there's my entertainment for the rest of the week then. XD
Röyksopp album leaked. Not quite sure what to say about it. The first half lacks the... Röyksoppian... quality of Melody.AM and many of their remixes (I don't know how to describe it except by analogy: there's a sense to Röyksopp tracks that the song is running on rails, probably not so much a roller-coaster as a maglev train. They always sound to me like one of those screensavers with wires growing all over the place. No matter how much it turns or swoops there's a compelling centripedal force keeping it in mathematical line, and all the tension in the song comes from tugging against that force - it wants to fly off but instead it's propelled forward, on and on and on). Instead it has the same texture as all the progressive house and trance I've been listening to recently, only... without the... the actual... beats...
...Well, it does more or less come back in the second half. And the melodies are quite pretty. And only the opinion I hold of it in two weeks will count for anything in the long run.
Röyksopp - Only This Moment
Röyksopp - What Else Is There?
(I know this was by no stretch a rave review sort of first impression blurb but you do want to download these, believe me. They're the good tracks.)
