Meme because I am bored
Apr. 4th, 2005 08:29 pmActually, more because I've been told that it's difficult to tell who my favorite character is. So this is an experiment. XD
(from
canis_m)
a. Post a list of 15 fandoms.
b. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each one.
c. When guessed, bold the line, include the character name, and write a sentence about why you like that character.
...It's hard to name fifteen fandoms in which I actually have a favorite character. >_>
EDIT -- Okay, someone finally got one. XD More rules for clarity's sake: specific names, guys, you can guess for more than one fandom at once, but only one character per fandom. :x
01. Angel Sanctuary: Lucifer. I dug the katana and the bookish delinquent thing. XD With reference to a question oft asked of me in Mirage of Blaze, that is how the soul can make the body hawt, see? (Actually he and Alexiel had a real Naoe-and-Kagetora thing going on there as well, didn't they.)
02. Final Fantasy VII: Reno. Okay, now that I come to explicate for Reno the pattern should be readily apparent from the entries below. XD 野良猫です。
03. Fushigi Yuugi: Hotohori. Long-haired bishounen + emperor = Go Straight To Love Do No Pass Go Do Not Collect $200. This one is also genetic.
04. GetBackers: Amano Ginji. This is really a toss-up between Ban and Ginji. My readerly identification is geared more toward Ban, though (I'm a lot better at writing him =_=), and thus my love is geared more toward Ginji. Because Ban hearts Ginji and all.
05. Ghost in the Shell: Kusanagi Motoko. I had trouble reading Eroica J-fanpages at one point because AFAIC 少佐 = Motoko. (Yeah, yeah, insert your own joke.) For all her proudly-displayed femininity there's something very androgynous about her: not even because of her very masculine job and power level and respect accorded, but because she's not really her body. Motoko fascinates. Although if you ask me why I like her I'd be more sincere if I babbled something about jungle cats again, and her voice (one of the most instantly recognisable vocal performances of all anime, at least to me).
06. Hikaru no Go: Touya Akira. The idealistic obsession thing again. What he wants is so pure, so rarefied and arcane, easily comprehensible and difficult to grasp at once. And he's vulnerable - very much one of those children who're more accustomed to the company of adults than peers. I want to feed him up, if that isn't apparent from my fic. XD
07. Initial D: Takahashi Keisuke. See Ban and Ginji, only with Ryousuke and Keisuke. Except this one is worse in all ways, because we have the omg little brother love happening. XD
08. Legend of Galactic Heroes: Yang Wenli. Tanaka's hommage to Zhuge Liang. In all honesty I think this is genetic, it comes with the female/Chinese/intelligentsia alleles.
09. Prince of Tennis: Echizen Ryouma. My mother agrees with me that Ryouma should have been my little brother. The arrogance is cute! He's like one of those little black cats that thinks he's all that and goes about with his nose in the air and his paws lifted smartly and his stubby tail pointed straight up.
10. Rurouni Kenshin: Battousai. Battousai. Important. I adore Kenshin but he doesn't do it for the fangirl me like his golden-eyed teenage self, cool of gaze and sure of step, with that high ponytail lashing behind him like the tail of a cat. (I sense a leitmotif.)
11. Vagrant Story: Sydney Losstarot. See the entry for Schuldig. (Sydney is hardly physically similar to Schuldig, which only goes to show. But they are both of the Tribe of Tiger, to quote the poem.) I also have a fondness for characters who are layers of strategy and cold-hearted manipulation around a core of - childish, it always strikes me as childish, pure and mad and illogical as only children can be - idealism.
12. Vampire Chronicles: Armand. Lestat and Armand run close, but you get a lot less of Armand in the books - before they went to shite anyway. I always wanted to see more of him, he was the archetypal murderous bishounen XD, and I felt sorry for him. Out of all the main characters in VC he's the only one who wasn't a child of an Enlightened age, and he never completely adapted.
13. Weiss Kreuz: Schuldig. I think Schuldig is beautiful. Not that anyone in WK is precisely hard on the eyes, but some characters slam a fist down on all one's buttons. I could barely make it through the series once without falling asleep, but I would rewind the tape just to watch him cross the screen. He's also completely other - on the outside he's kind of normally(?!) sociopathic but the inside of his head is this alien thing - meaning that I'll probably never tire of writing him. ...This is considerably longer than one sentence.
14. X-Files: Dana Scully. Agent Scully is the perfect woman. ...What? She is!
15. Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Kurama. I would always write Kurama in the first person because I identified with him: his friendly self-containment, how he keeps his claws sheathed in daily life, his innermost self distanced from even the ones he loves. Also, how many characters have two physical forms that are equally hawt?

Date: 2005-04-04 03:54 pm (UTC)In any case, for LoGH, it's gotta be either Yang or...someone utterly obscure, like, third-level background. FFVII, I'd peg you as Vincent, or any one of the Turks - or all of them together. Which is, of course, more or less the same thing, but, pfeh, details.

Date: 2005-04-04 05:37 pm (UTC)Although everyone is picking Yuuta, I would have picked Fuji, and then Tezuka. Cause you said on various occasions that Fuji is your #1 character to write about and you always write about him, so I'm surprised that it is Ryouma.
I don't know if I should do this meme. I don't have favorite characters for most series, and often when I do have an unreasonable crush on a character, it's usually a minor one or a wrong one? XD

Date: 2005-04-04 05:50 pm (UTC)Do it, and watch people sweat. XD

Date: 2005-04-04 05:53 pm (UTC)Actually, now that I think about it, all of the shows where I do have favorite characters are waaaay, waaay too obvious. >_> Unless you turn the correct answer into "likes this character far out of proportion to what you're supposed to" and then it just turns into "unreasonable fangirl crush" and that's just embarrassing. XD

Date: 2005-04-04 06:03 pm (UTC)And I'm awfully fond of Hotohori myself, though it took me a while to appreciate him on his own merits. (I <3 him for almost exactly the same reasons I <3 Nokoru, in fact.)
