Half an hour before I can get out of here
Apr. 1st, 2005 08:36 pmWe ♥ Molecules - Silk & Venim (Whipcrack Revolutionary Remix)
(The file came named like that. I didn't change it - even though the band changed its name - because I don't know how the heart symbol would parse in the link.) Apparently the launch party for this single was held on February 13 at Magic Idea - yes, that Magic Idea, the uber-teeny-trendy bubble tea café in Chinatown - and was DJ'd by Plastik Patrik. Why was I not there?!? What the hell was I doing on the Sunday before Valentine's Day anyway? ...Okay, making mix CDs for Tania, I reckon. But AAARRRGH.
It's synthpop. The lyrics will get stuck in your head. Please do not tell me you were not warned.
New Order - Waiting for the Sirens' Call
New Order - Turn
(The second one's an m4a file.) From the new album, if anyone's still looking for it. I think I may have overplayed it. XD;; But oh, the sunny crisp guitar-pop. One day I will attach these to specific fandoms/FSTs and convince you all of the beauteous Truth of said songcalls.
Starsailor - Four To The Floor (Thin White Duke Mix)
Another track that people seem to look for. I know the original; what I don't know is how I know the original. Certainly I've never had the mp3. Shock and horror, I may actually recognize it by osmotic seepage, i.e. from the radio... This version is amazing, a dancefloor stormer if I've heard one. Consensus opinion is that it improves immensely on the source material.
Dot Allison - Tomorrow Never Comes
Dot Allison at her slowest and dreamiest and saddest, not at all electro. And I dreamt that you were telling me / that you dreamt of me / but now I'm waking up / I think I'm waking up... Actually this is one of the 5-6 tracks I pared off the Mirage FST; what with the Rachel Goswell there's a definite theme happening, I reckon the next one should be by Isobel formerly of Belle and Sebastian.
(Of course, now that I bother to check, it turns out that I do have a track by Isobel formerly of Belle and Sebastian: it's a cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang". You know, the OP theme to Kill Bill? My baby shot me down? ...I would laugh, but it's more unnerving than funny.
EDIT -- mp3 here, as per request. <3)
Does someone have Onitsuka Chihiro's "Infection"? I've got it on a CD somewhere but am too lazy to track it down and rip it. ^^;

Date: 2005-04-01 11:50 pm (UTC)(I too have that version of Bang Bang! It's a lot breathier than most of the covers, and oddly enough I think the karaoke version that's on the machine downstairs sounds like a tango, which has always been faintly disturbing for me.)

Date: 2005-04-02 03:31 am (UTC)....you know, this hanging over your shoulder in MoB fandom thing, I am still not sure if it is wonderful or terrible. Maybe I'll say terribly wonderful and have done with it. XD;;;;;;; AAAAHHH.
Loved the Rachel Goswell track to frisson-y bits, btw, am d/ling all these and waiting to listen while I ride my bike past the coastline in the evenings - ok, no *wonder* I've been avoiding continuing the novels.
(btw, do upload the rest of the songs you pared off the Mirage FST pretty please? =x and p.s. hope you're much better now *sends new white yukata love for takaya doll*)

I'm better. No more fever or aching. Predictably it's turned into a hacking cough, which will no doubt last me into May. XD;;

Date: 2005-04-02 08:51 pm (UTC)Substance is the best if you want to start off with the singles. I think it actually depends on what you like about New Order. Once you're addicted, then you want all the other CDs. *cackles gleefully* *halo*
