Gundam Seed ep.8-15
Feb. 19th, 2005 12:58 amI only make snarky comments because I love it, of course. ^^; The story and characterisation are very, very strong; the inclusion of the "continuing human evolution" SF theme, the hommage to The Hunt for Red October (Ramius! XD), the fact that the Gundam itself is the McGuffin for the first run of episodes. Left off at a turning point, though, so will shelve analysis in favour of further viewing.
Also reading Trinity Blood, though at this point I've spent less time reading than giggling at the map. It's this glorious hodgepodge. Massilia! Venetia! Macedonia! Byzantium! Albion! Though surely it should be "Lutetia" not "Lutetium"? ...The stage is set in Budapest, except it's called Ishtvan, as a sort of border skimish between Catholic (well, Vatican-controlled) Hungary and vampiric Czechoslovakia, except it's called Bohemia. It's all a plot to make me learn Geography, Gundam Seed included. "Er, aimed for Alaska, got Algeria... only a few letters off..."
(Huge props for giving the characters names with sane romanizations, all the same, even if it's going to be zero help with the katakana matsuri. Maybe this guy studied European history in uni. XD)
EDIT -- Speaking of sane romanization, I don't suppose anyone remembers what G.U.N.D.A.M. stands for in this one? I didn't catch it as was too busy boggling at the fact that the English made sense. ^^;
