I am tired of struggling with this. =_= Hence, am posting to flist. I need people to give this a listen and tell me if they think it's too on crack to be posted to the comm at large, because IMO it is. I mean, it's got nothing to do with canon or tennis or anything, once I gave up and let it be what it wanted to be it just turned into a soundtrack for my fic. My unwritten fic.

...Why Blind Summer Fish? o_O;;

Because my ficverse!Fuji and the mix are all over littoral imagery anyway? ^^; Because the doujinshi I read always seem to stress the idea that Fuji is on a different path from, say, Tezuka or Ryouma? Because the "sound" of it is representative of Fuji-in-my-head? ...I mean, it's not canon, that's for sure, but. ^^;

okay. I gave it a listen and then I realized I had no idea what you were trying to achieve with it, because I don't know the character. >_>

But, as a maker of Mixes, I just want to know something.

When I first started out, My Mix Master (I'm sorry, the pun had to be used) told me it is NEVER a good idea to put two songs by the same artist in the same mix. But this is a soundtrack, so I'm wondering if the rule appiles.

The way I think of it is, yeah, if one were going to grade mixes the way one would grade gymnastic routines, repeating the same artist would get you a one-tenth deduction each time - but no more than that. XD The most important thing is to keep the mix "flowing" well from one song to the next.

You can also do things like, I dunno, make a mix of sixteen songs in which each of eight artists have two songs featured.

But an FST isn't a mix, exactly, it's a soundtrack--isn't it? if only a soundtrack to the unwritten fic in one's head--and nobody goes around saying "oh, koff koff, it's such bad form to have TWO tracks by Alison Krauss on Cold Mountain." Anyhow, that no-repeats rule is crap. Well, maybe it's true for DJs when making sets? Am ignorant about that, but depending on the context and purpose and audience and theme of one's mix, repetition of an artist may be exactly what's called for. Hmph! struck nerve, obviously

Have burned and will listen while on the road tomorrow, but I expect I'm going to like it, so that won't help you any. x_x;

That's why I say it's not a very important point. OTOH it is a deduction in my head, because I'm incredibly anal like that. In fact soundtracks operate under a larger set of deduction rules in my head than mundane mixes, because you've got the ones like "would this fit on the real soundtrack of the hypothetical anime if the series is manga-only?" or "does the singer sound remotely like the seiyuu?" or "if the lyrics are purportedly from chara X's point of view, does it use chara X's preferred Japanese pronouns?"

OTOH I'm perfectly content with turning in a routine that scores a 9.2/10. XD;;

does it use chara X's preferred Japanese pronouns?

Ahaha I do that. Not to the extent that I'll throw out a track on the grounds of watashi when it should be boku (not least because this would involve throwing out, uh, 95% of J-female vocals), but I guess I acknowledge it as a minor point deduction--wait no. No! I will not be seduced into your insidious gymnastics metaphor! >D

How about this one: if the series has an anime version, is it legal to steal tracks from the actual anime soundtrack and/or image albums? Instinct says it's cheating, but is it permissible for a character FST on grounds of overwhelming strength of musical association? For instance: how could one in good conscience make a Mario character FST without including "Go! Go! Mario"?! I mean really.

Holy shit. O_o I need to read this fic of yours when it gets written. Not that I'm a fan of PoT, generally, but I like Fuji well enough, and this mix is . . . admittedly cracked but intriguing.

Fotografia right after Coward is a little jarring, but maybe that's what you were going for?

Well, when you do get it written, I'll read it with this in the backgroun. ^^
