Doujinshi, doujinshi
Sep. 4th, 2004 11:22 pmIt's pathetic how, if I don't blog for two-three days, I feel the urge to make some kind of PSA to the effect that I am not deceased (I've been practicing the righteous art of the individually tailored sl0re these past couple of weeks, which is why lj activity has gone down. OTOH my various fandoms have quietly gained members >D). But yes. The third package I was awaiting came (from
tsutanai), so now on top of having Naruto doujinshi I don't understand, I have Juuni Kokki doujinshi I don't understand. XD <3 Definitely must watch more, as is obv. filled with dashing long-haired men and cute little boys, not to mention giant squirrels. Actually, so is Naruto according to Yamada D. Yonezou - except for the giant squirrels. I'm not sure I trust her.
(I don't understand Chibi Bunny Takaya either, but I have a feeling that series spoilers won't do it any good.)
There's also really funny Saiyuki parody, and I still have to start reading "Slide", and... well, no lack for reading material during the next week. XD I'm starting to run out of space for the things, though.

Listening to the new Chara CDs like mad. ^^; It feels like I've spent the summer listening to no other voice. A real album artist is rare enough these days; and her lyrics hit me hard sometimes, with their emotional frankness. Openness, is maybe a better word.

Date: 2004-09-05 03:55 pm (UTC)(Mmm, it is quite worth reading and watching, although the thing about it is that it is really frustrating to follow because the mangaka makes the fight scenes last 10 episodes, so the serialization is mad irritating.)

Date: 2004-09-05 08:04 am (UTC)Openness, yeah, in that childlike way which is so different from the lolikon fake-childishness some other Japanese female artists pretend at, or are obliged in the name of marketing to pretend at...with Chara it's not creepy, because one gets the sense that she really does, on some level, continue to be six years old. In a good way. While at the same time being a grown woman and a mature artist and a mother of two children etc. I also continue to be six years old, so.
RE: 12K, but of course there are dashing long-haired men and
underageunicorn boys; what kind of pimp do you take me for? >_< Should I just lend you my HK bootleg DVD set, and save you the trouble of schlepping godknowswhere to rent? The English subs are laughable but the Chinese ones may be better. I should hope they're better. They can't be worse.no subject
Date: 2004-09-05 05:22 pm (UTC)There's still a good deal of listening yet in these. XD The second disc of the live set is indeed ace. I also really like the original version of "Are wa ne" and "Tiny Tiny Tiny". I find it quite interesting that Chara's funk/soul shaded right over into house music on a few tracks in the early nineties, before she chucked it all for alt.folk.

Date: 2004-09-05 08:10 am (UTC)Juuni Kokki has /one/ dashing man and his chibi kirin and I wish you hadn't reminded me what the djka probably make of that.
Juuni Kokki IMO is practically unwatchable up to ep 8 at least. It improves dramatically after that.

Date: 2004-09-05 07:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, gotta say I was like "what, giant squirrel in JK? Is it some kind of youma?"
As for watching more, I've got the whole thing fansubbed, so if you would like it just hit me up for it.
I also agree that until ep #5 at least, I found it obnoxiously unfun to watch, but after that I became more and more enamored.
The dashing long-haired main is OMG AWESOME. Also of the few situations in which I would ever read shota fic if it was well-done and would totally pretend it doesn't bother me. ^^; (Such a hypocrite am I! @_@)

Date: 2004-09-08 10:47 pm (UTC)Have never thought about seiyuu for Nana. Would self-combust from rampant imaginings if I ever ventured down that path. Best to exercise self-restraint. <3

Date: 2004-09-10 01:34 am (UTC)Thank you so much! You can definitely upload the existing Parakiss FST. I was starting to cobble something together myself, so maybe we can compare playlists. I just really loved your notes for the Nana one; I've even started listening to Evanescence again, because I can tolerate and even enjoy their lyrics when I think of them as Trapnest.
