Incidentally, FantAsia starts tomorrow. For you, this means many reviews of weird-ass Asian movies to come in this space. (For me it means I go see everything with Asano Tadanobu innit, among other criteria, almost not for the man himself but because he occupies a position in the Japanese film industry roughly equivalent to Johnny Depp, i.e. has a nose for interesting projects. Also he is married to Chara. :O Hawtest indie couple evar!)

Sure, they're indie! Indie in a megastar way, but definitely indie.

Well, indie like Tori Amos is indie, you know. That is, you think EVERYONE IN THE UNIVERSE listens to her, but then you realise this is only because everyone you know is at least a little bit cool, and that this is alas a mere teardrop in the flood of VAST UNCOOLNESS that is the rest of the world. Or something.

It's also probably safe to say that in North America, listening to Japanese music that is not Azn idoru pop automatically gives you indie cred. You've gotta look at the big picture here. XD
