I'm going to start posting these, because the more I sit on them the less I'm able to write. You know that time I said I don't feel a story is complete until it's been read by someone else, and everyone told me I was on crack? All I can plead is that this is really the way it works in my head. It's like the cute two-year-old who's all proud of what she's done in the potty and wants to show you adults, not to mince words. XD (One more proof the so-called "creative process" bears more than passing resemblance to bodily evacuation...) Besides, it's 12:30 and thus 07/07. *IS LAME*

Private Beach

The title comes from the Chara ballad. (You'll be seeing that sentence again.) The song is not intended as a soundtrack to the fic (which is not exactly filled with floaty-sparkly saudade, shall we say XD), nor are the lyrics particularly relevant. Basically I give all my fics working titles - I have to save the Word files as something - 50% of which are pedestrian keywords like "November" or "Snapshots", and 50% of which are whatever song I was listening to that second. As like as not the working title becomes the real title, because I'm that lazy.

However - however - this fic is obliquely written around another story. The song may serve as inspiration for that.

Please talk to me. XD;;; I don't often say this but the 1,300 words in a night bit left me completely wacked out.

Well, I enjoyed it, but, uh, the only thing I know about TeniPuri is that I strongly suspect I would be a TezuFuji fangirl, and I so badly don't want to be disabused of this notion that I'm considering avoiding the manga like the plague and just reading the Aesthe article (becaiuse of course there is one, right?) so that I can read the pr0n. (Erio Hori and Works2 seem to be drawing it. I love Erio Hori's art, and normally she likes pairings I cannot comprehend, such as Sano x Kenshin. (Kenshin x Sano I could comprehend, or, at least, Sano wanting Kenshin to be his seme.))

Also, goodness, I stared at that icon for a long time, sure it was something I should recognize, before sorting it out.

No, there is no Aesthe article, because for there to be an Aesthe article I strongly suspect that I'd have to write it (if kawamurasushi won't, and I don't think she will). XD;; And Prince of Tennis would have to be a Macropedic entry, not a Micropedic one, so basically it's a recipe for time suckage. But why would watching the series itself disabuse you of being a TezuFuji fangirl, tho'? Lud knows there are plenty of them around. XD Actually knowing you I think there are pairings you'd like better - not with Tezuka or Fuji, I mean - but that's hardly a wrenching process of disillusion.

Hah, reading archives at work to combat sleep-deprivation-induced boredom and found this. What pairings did you think I'd like better? XD

I think the thought I had at the time was that, well, normally I never like the same pairings that have piles of dj drawn about them, or if I do, I have a significant gripe with the typical jfen approach to the pairing. As if happens, PoT is big enough that I can find enjoyable dj, although I have learned that Fuji x Tezuka is more to my taste.

I like the beach image too. Should really post the song. (There was this beautiful skinny boy in the crowd at the Canada Day concert I attended, shooting with a giant zoom on his Nikon just like that. I stared. XD)

No, it's Yuuta. Er, I guess he does in my head? It's always "Shuusuke" in Yuuta's 3rd-person POV narration. But you're right, I should change that. Not confusing people is always a good thing. XD (I have actually had this beta'd, or what usually passes as betaing with me, i.e. I hand a printout to someone and stare at them with gimlet eyes as they read it, gauging reaction. XD So I've gotten rid of some confusing bits already. There used to be this line about Fuji's pants. XD)

i see... ah, no need to change it! it helps to know that's really how you see him. i don't know yuuta that well in canon myself, but you make older, mellowed, resigned-to-his-fate!yuuta so believable.

I lost it right about there--Yuuta's reaction was so... well, adorable and funny. I loved his conversation with Tezuka, who seems to have... mellowed a little with age, but not so far that he's unrecognizable, it felt like a natural progression. But more than that, even though Fuji wasn't actually in this, he was beautifully characterized as well and I had the dopiest grin on my face the entire way through. Beautiful, sparkling, clever dialogue that still fit the characters and Tezuka - Yuuta interaction! You have no idea how badly I wanted that. ♥

There are no words for how adorable I find every single line of this fic. Both Tezuka and Yuuta are believably mellowed; I can easily see teen!Yuuta flipping his top, but later!Yuuta is able to sit quietly, chug latte, and mourn the defiling of his furniture. Also, I love the sideways references to Ryouma.

Yeah, everyone's a lot older, which counts for a lot. (It's more like, I can't keep a firm hold on characterisation when I get to writing that fast, though. XD)

This universe is really extensive in my head. They're all in it and doing something clever with their lives: Taka, Oshitari, Renji... I used to refer to it as AU until someone pointed out to me that canon doesn't contradict it in the least.

To reiterate: AHAHA YOUR DIALOGUE. Embarrassed!Yuuta is - is - HEEEEEE. Your Fuji is so deliciously evil. >) And while I don't really understand the point of Atobe's appearance (gratuitous whazzat?), the sortof existent TezuFuji sucked me under anyway.

I think I've told you before that I don't like TeniPuri slash (because it's boring), and among that, Tezuka and Fuji relationships (because it's even more boring). I don't remember if I told you that what you write is the exception. Particularly because I adore the Yuuta that you write, which makes it all okay. (Translation, in sum: I adored Yuuta, and enjoyed the story. Or in reverse order, depending on what you'd prefer.)

I'm curious about Echizen, in this world, and I'd ask you to write something focused on him, except that I know that he probably doesn't push your buttons, so.

i'm another one of those people that was too embarrassed to ask for a drabble (also, because i've been greedy with my flist already ^_^;), but damn, now i wish i hadn't been, since it seems that so many others were too AND WHY ARE WE DEPRIVING THE WORLD OF MORE OF YOUR WRITING? ;_;

but this. just, YES. i'm a sucker for dialogue, and i just love what you've done with it here. such a light hand, but such telling remarks. i love the glimpses of this futureverse you give us, how a conversation between two people so completely encompasses a third and reveals snatches of others. and gah, i'm in love with your yuuta. perfect look at his character, plus some odd years of maturation. thanks for sharing. <3.
