  • Nana 9-10 plus illo collection(! out this month, universe conspires to keeel me)
  • GetBackers 24-25
  • Death Note 1 (gramercy, [livejournal.com profile] beckymarie, 'twas appreciated XD)
  • the 3rd Honoo no Mirage novel (shaddup, I'm by no means convinced I can read these things, and don't want to start at the beginning either)
  • Pixies ticket for Nov.27
The story behind that last: picked up a copy of the Mirror yesterday (which I never do). An ad proclaimed that the Pixies were going to be in town Nov.26 (I had no clue); that the show was sold out; but that "due to overwhelming demand" a second show was going to be added for next day, tickets to go on sale Saturday (today) at noon. Realised that today at noon I was going to be... sitting in front of a computer. Logged on at five minutes past noon and bought ticket on Ticketpro. Fool's luck, end of story.

(...Well, what? I like the Pixies. XD I don't have to talk about every single band I like.)

Salvadorean food last night. Fresh tortillas, seafood, great earthy flavours. Pickled cabbage condiment bore striking resemblance to kimchee.

Okay, here's a Prince of Tennis canon timeline nitpicking question (mmm, everyone's favorite kind!): if Yukimura's health deteriorated sometime last winter shouldn't he have been at Junior Senbatsu? When is that?

Extremely, EXTREMELY jealous of you for getting to see the Pixies! ^__^

The whole Jr. Senbatsu thing confuses me. I had thought that it was after Nationals, and now it seems to be before? And there's also the fact that it happens in the videogames (though I would have to ask someone who has it when), and that the next video game will be about Jr. Senbatsu, and also the anime is making the characters not wear the full-on purple shirts, thankfully. And yet there is nothing that *says* that Yukimura was *not* at last year's Senbatsu. (I think; but you probably know more) For all we know, he could have been, but just happened to be eating lunch or in the bathroom during the flashback scenes.

But hey, I have ceased to complain about the anime, because they are doing a 1 hr Sanada v. Atobe special. And Yanagi and Inui are going to be playing together. So it's like it's giving me gen fanfic. XD

It makes no sense for it to be before. They have to use the Nationals to rank the players, don't they? I was sure it was September-October, except I don't really know. I suppose the game will say. ^^; (And is Jr. Senbatsu only second years and down? Or is it mostly third years and the invitation of Atobe/Tezuka/Sengoku(?)/Rikkai trio the last year fairly unusual?)

Ah, yes, conveniently out to lunch. :P And I feel the same about the anime - I get way too much dorky enjoyment out of watching things like the spurious Atobe vs. Ryouma practice match. I should really think about tracking down the raws as they appear, the subs are going nowhere. (Translation: cannot wait to see Yanagi and Inui play data doubles XD)

I agree! I need to ask the gamers I know about that, but IIRC in the games it was after Nationals, because the games end with the seniors graduating. No idea on whether it's mostly third years or not.

Yes, you should be tracking down the raws. There is also Kamio strangling Kirihara. Check out l33t-raws.com (higher quality) or saiyaman.info. But the recent filler eps weren't that interesting. (It won't be Sanada and Atobe just staring each other down while Yanagi gives ninja commentary, right? There will be obviously other things, like the return of Saeki and more randomness.) Yeah, and my inner-fanboy is always playing fantasy tennis too.

Unrelatedly, did you hear that Sanada's new weird move apparently references Takeda Shingen? Man, I try not to make Mirage of Blaze jokes and they fairly throw themselves at my head.

Actually I can't think of a scenario in which Sanada and Atobe will suddenly decide to play a serious match with, like, everyone else mysteriously there. What are they going to do, show up at the outdoor courts where Seigaku hangs out? It's not like Momo and Kamio squabbling, y'know. >_> But then I guess that's why they don't hire me to script the anime.

Er, haven't watched Mirage of Blaze on the theory that it sounds like one huge Read the Novel series, and that will cause my head to explode. -_-

Yes, that does make sense, that there really isn't any other way to get Atobe and Sanada to play each other seriously, because while Atobe does hang out on public tennis courts occasionally, Sanada is in another prefecture and probably doesn't play street tennis for the same reason we never see Tezuka doing it.

Yukimura was hospitalized in (I'm assuming) the previous November or thereabouts, in fall, anyway, which should be at least a month after Jr Senbatsu if say it was held at the latest guess, Sept/Oct. so yes, he should have been there. possibly they are either trying to build up an air of secrecy about him, or, they simply forgot about him. since they didn't actually kill him off I'm kind of hoping for the first :E

Ah, thanks for the confirmation... it just occurred to me that all the people who were at Jr. Senbatsu last year should know each other a little, and probably have played each other. But no one from Seigaku was there. ^^; (I wonder if Fuji simply didn't care to be one of the Regulars until time forced his promotion? It doesn't seem like he played competition matches last year at all, though Ooishi and Kikumaru did. ...Or did he?)
