Mar. 12th, 2004 12:27 amDragging myself back from... Baktria? Where is that now? Afghanistan and some other -stan, says the Britannica. (Am terrible with the geography of everything between Cyprus and India, to my shame. This because I mostly learn geography as an adjunct of history, so in areas of the world where borders are redrawn every century or so, each conquest or treaty smudges my mental atlas. One always knows exactly where England is, even the England of Wilfred Ivanhoe - even the England of Marlow's poor sod of a Roman trireme captain, in the days when the mouth of the Thames led into the Heart of Darkness - but where is Prussia now? Perhaps I should be less of a stickler for nations and satrapies and whatnot, and pay more attention to mountain ranges and rivers.) Two thirds of the way through the book, and am starting to remember that this is another of those stories where I know the end before it begins. Le sigh.
Maybe I should watch some more LoGH tonight. Haha. Ha. What recipe for troublesome mental ferment that would be.
Where are the horrible-quality Asian scans of Genius 216? Must have showed up by now, surely? :P
And worked on that PMK soundtrack, because for some reason I thought that to be a more intelligent option. Ahaha. So inevitably I sat there for twenty minutes wibbling over Dire Straits, like a Douglas Adams punchline. ...It's an odd sort of mix, veering between theme songs of unwritten, heavily extrapolated AU/futurefic (that wouldn't even be written by me aka some of this schtuff has specific flist members in mind), music I was listening to while working on Haru no Tsuki and Other Untitled Fic, and... actual soundtrack-y instrumentals that remind me of the series. Musically coherent, though, which is astonishing, albeit it didn't coalesce around an upbeat mood. ^^; Sunny and gay will have to wait for the Prince of Tennis soundtrack.

Date: 2004-03-12 07:35 am (UTC)I shouldn't admit this, but Chara's new version of "Tsumi blah blah" strikes me as appropriate to criminal shota scenarios. Is too sunny for PMK unless you posit that those bygone days at Kondou-san's dojo in Edo ought to be coated with a pastel glaze of nostalgia, which I sort of do. And Souji is like 11 or something. Right, time to rip out my brain and disown it.
Keep fergetting to say that I like your current layout lots.
