Too much music up at once. Urk. Well, just one more song:
Junkie XL feat. Robert Smith - Perfect Blue Sky
Yes, it's the same JXL as did the Elvis remix. Far's I can tell the guy actively set out to write the perfect Cure-in-pop-mode pastiche for Robert Smith to sing on - except being a d'n'b DJ and not a rock band, the entire thing is programmed. The result is this lovely piece of chillout-groove electronica that leaves you itching for "real" instruments, and trust me, I never get that. XD It's just that it's very easy to mentally convert this into a downtempo New Order song, with the crisp drumming and jangly bass and synth washes, or one of those Cure songs that rather sound like New Order songs.
...And I had to make a note of that, but sometimes it feels as if the jargon sucks the soul out of things. ^^; I've been obsessing over this track since yesterday. The title is apposite; it gives one that sensation of standing on a grassy knoll on a summer day and gazing upward at a sky that's very high and very blue, knowing that one is very small. Mono no aware.
Perfect Blue Sky
Hand in hand we stand below
A perfect blue sky
You and me alone again
Hand in hand we stand under
The perfect blue sky
Waiting for the world
It's not as if we have that long
No endless time to dream
To fall in love
To ever get to know
A few short summer days
Is all the sweetest life we ever live
A fleeting glimpse before we go
A perfect blue sky
A perfect sky
A million stories left untold
Side by side we slide below
A perfect blue sky
Not sure where and not sure when
We always knew this day would come
Too soon the perfect blue
To grey and black
And all at once is cold
The hopes we had to grow
To understand the reasons why, all gone
A million stories left untold
Someone write me a fic to this. Pwease?
