First the Lexidata, and now I'm just past coping: so Fudoumine has this yearly poetry slam competition, right? (No, really, they do. And they're the "normal" school.) So Shinji writes this poem about Kamio called "High On Rhythm", and Kamio makes him enter it, and he wins. And is like, "Man, all I did was tell it like it is." [I'm picturing this magnificent ten-page Whitmanesque stream-of-consciousness piece...]

Yamabuki's swimming pool. Outdoors, on the roof of the gym. How cool is that?

"Fujiko-chan" explained! In all honesty? Taka's a Lupin III fan. XD

Rokkaku, the hippie school. Dude, the flower-viewing. The clam-digging. The planting seeds in June to harvest them in October.

And in that vein, Fuji's cacti... So they explain the kanji of "cactus" in Japanese, right, which are the same as in Chinese - "spirit palm". "Spirits," the fanbook muses, "who live apart from humans and possess powers beyond the natural order of things. It must mean something that Fuji likes these plants, when his true abilities are so mysterious." [Damn right, I'll give you a hint: SOMEONE'S ON MESCALINE AND IT SURE AIN'T ME.]

More on Taka-san: He's got this English Monopoly set that he bought at a flea market. So that's what the club does when they go over to his place, apart from eating his dad into bankruptcy. However, it is strongly suggested that he plays with himself when no one else is around. Um. Split personality and all that. [See!?]

Seigaku has twins! Yoshimura Shun and Yoshimura Yuu, second years, the latter of whom apparently doesn't suck too badly. XD [Mizuki will want a piece of that action.]

Speaking of incredibly useless information: Nomura outta St.R, you know the guy who keeps pissing Yuuta off by referring to him as Fuji-otouto, that guy? Has a crush on Miss Catherine their English teacher (age 27). XD [See, now there's a Sue worth writing. Your thinly-veiled self-insert ends up teaching English at Hyoutei or something on the JET programme, and gets macked on by Oshitari.]

...I told you. It's like reading crack fic, only canon.

It's way too late, or else I'd come up with something snarky about all of them.

Alas, I just have this to say: WOW. CRACK. UM. YES. IT'S NOW PROVED.

I like Nomura, he resembles my little brother greatly. ^___^

I wish I could read well enough to understand the fan-books. It sounds like it's beautiful crack.

See, this is why I LOVE the series. It's wonderful when CANON supports the CRACK. Oh yes it is. Now I need to go and get a full translation of the crack.

You don't want to know where my mind went when you made the comment about Taka playing with himself, Mizuki wanting a part of the action or Shinji's poetry of Kamio.... no you don't.

...It does sound kind of bad, doesn't it. But, well, look, it's not my fault if Mizuki has an obsession with stealing people's siblings, or if Kamio makes Shinji write poetry about him. I'm just telling it like it is. XD;;

The trick is reading absolutely everything. Just the profiles won't do; the real crack is hidden off in random bubbles here and there. ^^;

I think the imperative behind it is to inspire yet more weird fanart submissions, which they can then reprint in the next fanbook. It's a pyramid scheme of crack content.

ROFL.. I love it. It's beautiful when someone who actually understands what the book is saying shares, you know (and anything else random you happen to notice would also be appreciated and thusly devoured as well). ^__^

Konomi takes crack to new and inspired heights.. let us hope that the popularity of PoT will be an inspiration to future generations of mangaka. ^^

The imperative falls somewhere between "The fandom must know of this!" and "Someone else has to share my pain!" ^^; But glad you like it.

What I wish someone would translate is the Konomi und Minagawa double interview, because it's the cutest thing ever. A bit too long for me to do in good conscience, though, as I have a huge translation backlog.

Damn, this is quite awesome. If I ever learn enough Japanese to translate, I shall choose my projects by what is most cracklike.

And yes, I knew Rokkaku were hippies! It makes you wonder what Oji was doing in the sixties.

Rokkaku obviously barefoot flower children - I mean, they use organic home-made rackets. Can't beat that. XD The beauty of it is that they're a traditionally strong team, not a sudden fluke like Fudoumine (who btw apparently can do no wrong in their school since they made the Nationals).

Curse yooooooooooooou.

I just downloaded 1-10 and am watching, but it'll be YEARS before I get to, you know, actually MEET anyone involved in the crack. By which time I'll probably give up, anyway.

(Does there get to be less Tennis Exposition Obaachan? Am I a horrible person for wishing Ryouma was a girl?)

It gets much more interesting once you get past the Meet Our Main Characters And Supporting Actors You Don't Much Care About stage. Which is most of 1-10, but the upside is that after 1-10 you are allowed to watch the musical. Which is SO SPECIAL.

A lot of the crack fun proceeds from seeing types of people do junior high school sports that in real life would never, ever, ever in a thousand years come within a mile of the jocks at their school. Like Inui the conscious Bayesian analyst.

Ryouma is actually gender-irrelevant; he'd be the exact same character and play the exact same role in the series if he happened to be a girl. (And, y'know, if tennis were mixed and all that.) Which is true for a disturbingly high number of the boys, actually, but not all of them.

... there's a musical?

... ... is it live action?

Inui is the emo boy who's going to grow up and become Thom Yorke, right? He's... yeah. I'm sure people slash him, which is a shame, because instead people should be writing about his large collection of entirely digital porn, none of which contains anything recognizable as a human being.

The thing about Ryouma being a girl is, you know, it'd make any Tezuka x Ryouma much, much more interesting, although the weirdness between Nanjiroh and his putative offspring less disconcertingly cool.

There is a musical, and it is live action. With disco dancing meant to represent emotional conflict on the courts. You missed everyone in anime fandom screaming like dorks that week? Travelling? XD

Inui is in no wise emo, actually, though I wouldn't be surprised if he liked Radiohead. And he's going to grow up to be a chemist, a statistician, or a stock market billionaire. And I would totally concede the digital porn, if it weren't for the fact that he proves himself canonically quite able to relate to other people, as long as he gets to deconstruct them into statistics.

And he has this friend from elementary school. I call it the Spock vs. Data pairing But that's a long story.

See your point about both Tezuka and Nanjiroh. Eh, there's always a trade-off, I suppose. XD

Holy crap. Where does one find this thing?

Re Inui: he's going to grow up to write revolutionary music programs that allow all the JP labels to churn out mega-hit chart-topping idol pop purely based on algorithms, duh. Inui x Amiga 5000 4-EVAH! ^_^

... Spock x Data? d00d. Sweeeeet. Have you written this?

Is the inevitable Tezuka vs Ryouma match as FRAUGHT WITH TENSION as I assume it will be, or pretty ho-hum?

BitTrickle. Somewhere. Or... I could put it up for you? Send email.

You mean idol pop isn't generated by algorithm now? The lid's been knocked off my world! XD XD No, I've not written the Renji x Inui. Someone else has, but they went the nostalgic angst direction. Have a little mercy, we're talking backstory revealed within the last three Shounen Jump chapters published in Japan.

The inevitable Tezuka vs Ryouma match is ELIDED FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT. Sort of like the first Ban vs Raitei fight.

Do you mean "gay"? Or do you mean "on drugs"? Because I see ample evidence to make a case for either side, here.

Nomura sure isn't gay. Unless he's in denial.
