Get Backers: OMG cannot cope. So incapable of coping it's pathetic. Am decidedly not cut out for this weekly serialisation business. ([livejournal.com profile] akatonbo, I'll see if I can't translate some of that chapter. Um. Tomorrow, when I've had a good night's sleep and am not huddled and snivelling with a metaphorical blanket over my head.) For that matter it would be over a lot faster if the damned thing were in Chinese or something, but it's hard to task one's iffy reading comprehension with this much angst.

...I'd say, luckily there's tennis anime for the watching, except Kirihara sounds exactly like Ginji's evil nasal twin. In short, I am plain disturbed whichever way I turn.

i was hanging my hat on 'ayamine-sensei and aoki-sensei are fucking with us and amon will be back and happy and cracking puns next chapter!!!!11!11!!!11111' but i was wrong....

d00d, this upsets me more than that scene where ban broke up with ginji in v21 >_> <_<;;;;;;

...I'm actually used to this, but... no, not coping very well this time. (I continue to compare it to following RK, because I'm hoping that if I do so often enough the same thing will happen as happened in RK... and I wasn't half the RK fan that I am a GB fan, and was really pretty much indifferent about Kaoru, whereas Amon snuck in and somehow displaced Ban as my favorite character.)

Just poke me if you can't see a kanji anywhere in there. ^_^

... at least it's not monthly, where we have to wait four times as long to find out What Happens Next? ;;;;;;;

At the same time, holy hell, WAS SO VERY NOT SEEING THAT COMING. At least, not permanently, like it's so far been implied to be--? T__________T

Today I actually saw a GB manga for the FIRST TIME EVER, and it was in Japanese to boot, so I'm afraid I can't help you much with the not-coping of the weekly serialization.

In the meantime, is GB any good? *hesitant smile*

I maintain that if they brought back all the random people that Kabuto killed, like Yuki said happened in #8, they'll bring back Amon, but they wouldn't do it then because Kabuto didn't kill him and because he deserves a better return. (But how long are they going to make us waaaaaaiit?)

Is GB any good? ...D00d, I'm way too tired to dignify that with the response it deserves. XD Read my lj archives from August to October if you feel up to it, that's about the length and breadth of my recommendation. ...No, um, wait! I wrote an Aestheticism article (http://www.aestheticism.com/visitors/manga/get_backers/index.htm) about it. That's the length and breadth of my recommendation with less babble.

Of course what you *could* do is just give up and leave the translatin' to the the people who are - well - paid to translate (you *do* know it's yet another entry in the "Tokyopop acquires Japan for North American distribution" list)...but...somehow I sense that just ain't gonna happen, not if you want to be able to look another fan in the face ever again and stand there, all full of the proud, the obsessive, and the fulfilled...

...Is about the long and short of it, yes. XD Also, Tokyopop is at volume 1, French!Pika is at volume 5-6ish, but me-'n'-my-flist are at volume 23+ and trying to fic like now. Someone's gotta step up to the breach. For once I volunteered.

Now if you can stop me from volunteering to text-translate Prince of Tennis doujinshi, we're all set.

French from Pika is only just at vol 3, alas, so don't let yourself be lulled into a false sense of security!

(watching archonia.com for vol 3 . . .)

*snort* just so you know, egan is teh slowest translator ever and tends to run very behind on deadlines, so don't be surprised if the tokyopop ones aren't exactly running on schedule ^^;

But they've translated up to 5ish, in the magazines. I'm... er, I think I'm certain? >_> Anyhow I haven't been seeing said tankoubon in stores, curses, so it's all moot.

'Cos I'm the Speedy Gonzales of translators, obviously. XD;;; Nah, slow but steady wins the race, and J and all other fan translators will probably agree with me that not having deadlines is the upside to not getting paid.

I think they may have, but I believe it's going bimonthly from now onwards, so book 4 won't be out till March. Pfui. Wish it were earlier.
