So I'm not sure where I got this idea that Kamio Akira mostly favors euphoric house/trance with minimal lyrical importance - gremlin lore, basically, yet I'm convinced enough of it that it's spawned a whole thought-train of personal amusement that rather fails the st00pidity test for sharing with the world at large. (Kamio is an Avex h0 yet he hates them on principle for the copy protection. Kamio fits the classic illegal downloader profile. Kamio has a "Chillout Mix" in which the songs occasionally fall below 120bpm, shokku. Kamio has no idea what this Queer As Folk show is but he thinks the mp3s are kind of ace - okay, see, I'll shut up while I'm ahead.) So rather than write a drabble that, like, attempts to give metaphoric significance to Kamio's adventures on WinMX, I made a mix. Figured the flist at large would like it better this way, as you can download and listen even if you don't care about my crackpot TeniPuri fictheories.

Kamio Mikkusu Sono Ichi

01 - Kosheen - Catch
02 - Hamasaki Ayumi - Appears (Armin van Buuren Remix)
03 - Plastique de reve - It Happened Then (Instrumental Loop Mix)
04 - DDR 2nd Mix - Boys (Summer Mix)
05 - globe vs. Push - dreams from above (Cyber Trance Original Mix / globe vs Push Synergy Mix)
06 - TRF - BOY MEETS GIRL (Da! Da! Da! Remix)
07 - Mariah Carey - Honey (Classic Mix)
08 - liO - At The End
09 - Chemical Brothers - Star Guitar
10 - Hamasaki Ayumi - Depend On You (Sevenson & Gielen Remix)
11 - Delerium - Innocente (Deep Dish Gladiator Remix - UK Edit)
12 - Frou Frou - Breathe In (DJ Encore Remix)
13 - globe - Many Classic Moments (Vincent de Moor's Budou Vox Mix)
14 - Aurora - The Day It Rained Forever

Of course, if you do care about Kamio and his travails, you should probably think of the above as a form of fic. (Gen fic, not slash. Meaning no Pet Shop Boys, no Kylie, nothing off the QaF OSTs, and no "Rhythm Is A Dancer". I would never - she says with a straight face - actually make a boy some kind of laughingstock because he dances to disco and doesn't like rock.) It's in character, because if I were left to my own devices there would be, y'know, a lot more New Order and Felix da Housecat and random electro schtuff. The compromise is that all of them are great pop songs, at least in a past unremixed life, because Kamio-in-my-head is perfectly happy to listen to 12-minute vocalless jungle tracks but that shit puts me to sleep, j0.

...see, it's things like this that make coming to work worthwhile. cos while i may on occasion be bad and procrastinatory, sometimes things like this pop up which will motivate me to do more work.

...am down to the "Boy Meets Girl" remix. nearly spit something out when it came on, as i didn't realise what the song being remixed was till i heard the beginning. XD

...right, see, i'm going to take advantage of the CD burners they so thoughtfully provided with our new machines for the v. first time sometime in the next few days and put this on a nice little disc to take with us on our road trip. think this may serve to keep awake, as it's sure as hell helping me get work done. XD

oh, and glad you enjoyed the MBV. at least, i hope you enjoyed the MBV. they're a bit of an acquired taste, but i <3 them so. and "Sometimes" gets me every single time. XD

I like the MBV! Very much so. My first more-than-passing encounter was actually Lost In Translation, which was a great showcase for its music moodwise. <3

IniD for next week. ^_^v

STing is so fun, innit? As an alternative to ficcing, I mean. I should send you the angsty!OotP!Harry ST. Do you have Tom/Ginny? I think I burnt you one, and if I didn't, I should. I owe meril, even though she and HP are like oil and water.

And darling, not that I ever, ever judge, but how is Hamasaki Ayumi er more straight/more gen/less ghei than the Pet Shop Boys? Mind you, you are speaking to the woman who thinks of PSB as being a musical default, so....XDXDXDXD

Date: 2004-01-13 07:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] petronia.livejournal.com
Yes, you did burn me the Tom/Ginny. It is actually my fave of the three. <3 But not angsty!Harry, which I believe is an oeuvre of yours post my visit. XD

Ah, but see, Hamasaki Ayumi is quite a bit more gen if you happen to be a Japanese teenager. (And I know what you mean about the PSB - so much restraint was required not to have any on this soundtrack. XD;; Actually if I were really mean and cruel I'd plan a vidclip with Kamio and An to "Can You Forgive Her?", but you'd have to watch Teh Tennis Show to know why that's funny.)

Tom/Ginny is rather brill. I think Ron and Hermione are also brill, but more applicable to them in the earlier books. (Also, I didn't really start hitting my soundtracking stride til around there.) So in other words, I promise, promise, promise to buy more cds and send out packages to people.

If you could teach me restraint that would CUT DOWN ON GRATUITIOUS SYNTHPOP on STs, please feel free to do so. I, of all people, must learn this lesson and learn it well. By the way, what is this sample on Star Guitar? Is driving me crazy, want to know <33333

Heh, I don't actually know what any of the samples in dance music are. Unless it's the bassline to Blue Monday or something, okay. ^^; Don't listen enough to the genre.

In my experience, a good fandom will usually grab one PSB song and one New Order song. So just limit yourself to those. XD

No comment you ahve said all I ever wanted to say about Kamio and his taste in music.

Okay, I lied I need to say one thing, Queer as Folk and Kamio?!!!! *laughs*

I went out of my way to be restrained. The above could very well have been flamingly gay (though that says more for the kind of mp3 collection I have than anything else), but Kamio's purported heterosexuality gets abused enough as it is. XD

Date: 2004-01-13 07:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] naanima.livejournal.com
Don't worry, I felt the restraint *patpat* It is no ones fault that Kamio and his taste in music leaves a lots to be answered for. Well, there really wouldn't be any abuse if Kamio wasn't such an easy target ^__^

Thank you for the mp3s -- they're not to my usual taste in music, but then again my taste in music hasn't been the same since I started downloading from [livejournal.com profile] superpchan. ^^

Though, damn it, stop inspiring me to make my own character mixes.

Heh, it's not my usual taste in music either. Although I like it better than I did - house/trance/techno used to drive me to distraction. I eventually started to grok it through repeated exposure, much like hard rock. *g*

Some of the mp3s you put up are still more interesting than the Korean R&B I've been exposed to recently, I have to give them that -- though K-pop does throw up the occasional surprises (Diva's "Up & Down"? Holy mother of god). I'm beginning to appreciate the (for lack of a better term) engineered feel of house/trance/techno music more than I did back when all I listened to were jazz and alt/folk-rock.

yeah, i repeat what she said. i almost said it earlier, in fact. but i still feel guiltier about being amused by "Like I Love You." were it not for Jazzler, i'd live a happily Timberlake-free existence. XDXDXD

*is still puzzling over whether the line is "if you give the the chance to be a man" or "your man."*

BTW, went to burn this to CD and discovered it's about 81 minutes. or 1 minute over what'll fit on my CD, allegedly. we'll see if it'll fit anyway---hope it does...

Much as I do like the mix... Maa, your Kamio and mine don't quite mesh, I guess? Not nearly enough drum machine, and, dare I say it, too slow? XD Too mellow, I think, anyway. But, whatever, right? ;)

Sigh. Is slightly depressing when the version you're reading of something is apparently not the version anyone else is reading. But before I go on about how the fandom is a lonely hunter, I'll stop here. XD

No doubt you're right, and therein lies the compromise; as after all muses do their work through the hands of man, and I can only make a tracklisting out of tracks I'm willing to listen to, let alone that I have on my computer. XD If Kamio had his way it would be much more hardcore. If I had my way it would drop to a 90bpm average.
