Sports and sports series

petroniaMontreal won Pittsburgh 8-0 this afternoon, it seems, and I was too busy struggling with superannuated printer firmware to remember to follow the game on NHL.com. Better than Thursday, when Erin and I were on the metro and could tell by the subdued crowd at Lucien-Allier that the Habs had lost at home. Yeah, okay, a week of talking TeniPuri statistics puts me in a spectator-sport mood, and anyhow the jostling for a playoffs berth is one of the few highlights of a Canadian winter. Feel free to disagree with me, but keep your snerking to a minimum, or I will sic that Euro-football yaoi fanart on you. I swear. XD
(It's probably just as well that they don't show soccer on network TV here; I'd lose all my time to it. Or, y'know, just keep it on all the time for the pwetty. Don't read Captain Tsubasa either, soit-dit en passant, because the art is yeah whatever but I've skimmed just enough of it to know the schtuff is pure-grade cocaine to my odd fangirl metabolism. As are most sports series, which is why I read them fairly rarely, because you may have noticed they reduce me to a sort of twitching babbling wreck. It's not like dark supernatural shoujo series where I can at least pretend to reference Milton profoundly, yanno. Though I have to hand it to the sensei of Tsubasa, because didn't it start off with high school teams? Last French tankoubon I checked, the characters were playing as Team Japan in Junior World Cup prelims. ^^; Now that's mangaka longevity. Somehow I don't think we'll get to see Echizen Ryouma at Wimbleton, alas.
Plus, bad art or not, Tsubasa essentially spawned Zetsuai, and Zetsuai spawned... well, you know. So in some obscure scoring system somewhere, that must give the dratted series bonus points. In short, TeniPuri Hockeyverse AU liveth! XD)
