Sep. 1st, 2003 12:13 amHaving read through GB#22 in detail - when ever did a manga tankoubon take as long as this? - I find that I misattributed the speech bubble order, and it was Emishi's sick and twisted imagination. So. He was trying to get Amon to stay.
*whistles innocently*
(They figured it out, in case you were worried: Amon sucks the lifeforce out of his surroundings, but one is safe staying twenty feet away and conversing through a megaphone. I foresee that this will constitute a challenge to the fandom.)
The Kiryudo king has taken Madoka as his chrysalid-body. I am not best pleased.
Kiryudo internal politics, by the by, are a thing of wonder - ranging from snark and position-jostling right up to the one tribe who turned coat and is helping Ban and Himiko defeat the rest, in the hope that her Insect Destroying Perfume will conquer their innerbeast bug. (Doesn't that stuff render one impotent? Probably a plot point that'll never come up again. >_>)
Why Kagami says he's an "observer": he acts as a direct live feed to Babylon. o_O;
Whatever "it" is that the Kiryudo want, Amon's the one who has it. (I like Amon a lot; you may have noticed. This is because he reduces his enemies to swirling gusts of sakura blossom, and also has mad harisen p0w3rz. I like all the Shikizoku, though Agi hasn't done a thing yet.)
Ura-Fuuchouin is being massively set up as the next storyline. Well. That, Himiko's fate, whatever-the-hell happened with Ban and the Miroku (I hope they haven't forgotten -_-;), Ban's family mysteries followed by the entire Mugenjou/Brain Trust package - and that about does it for the series. Unless they introduce new elements to the equation. *slumps*
Speaking of Ura-Fuuchouin, I told Wen this - smart money says Black String Person shows up with a devoted sidekick who fights with crochet hooks. (There's a Juubei x Kadzuki sewing kit in the official merchandise, did you know? Somebody has a sense of humour, or at the very least eyes in his/her head.)
I have to say this volume has been very pretty. Yami no Matsuei levels of pretty, even, with all the double-page battle spreads.
Now for real life (待っていたね…多分): party at Ced's last night. Made okonomiyaki (every attempt is an incremental improvement. I think I should let them cook for longer, though). Ced made lasagna; Tania brought apple pie; there were at various times corn and merguez sausages and barbecue chicken and durian fruit. Lots of wine. Tail-end of the evening, turned down the lights and DJ'd Ced's excellent bass-tastic sound-system set-up for perhaps the best basement dance party evar. Actually all we did was put on New Order's "International", PSB's "Discography" and the Tommy february6 album (i.e. best synthy electrofunk jpop album of 2002), but that's all it takes, right? XD
Decided overconsumption of alcohol and underconsumption of water, car trip back to Tania's unpleasant and involved dumping contents of my stomach on innocently bystanding lawns. Nevertheless, no hangover. Apparently my body just doesn't do those, though it's quite willing to give me a headache for oversleeping on non-festive weekends.

...I saw Ban's glasses at sjcon. I can't wear them, and thus am safe. ^_^ And Kadsuki's hair tie should be easy to make, no? (One way or the other I was very glad I got into GB right before the con, and not TeniPuri...)
