GB manga, vol.22
Aug. 29th, 2003 02:04 amWould rather not have to explain the mpreg!Emishi business again (yes, sahib, that's exactly what I said), so just scanned in that double page. Picture worth a thousand words and all that.
Natsuki Amon's twisted imagination
I should probably start taking this sort of thing to the comms. *shrugs* But it's all about sharing my pain with my friends, see, not traumatising random strangers.
And now for my next trick, I scan Ginji sobbing over Akabane. (If you haven't noticed, we're well into one of those OMGWTF bits recurrent in the storyline. My theory is that the T&A saabisu, the ghei saabisu, the shounen battle saabisu and the WTFness alternate in an esoteric pattern, like the odd-even Star Trek movie thing.)

Date: 2003-08-28 11:46 pm (UTC)so what we've determined is that amon wants to have lots of kids with emishi >D >D >D >D "いやよ!" i like the one that looks like amon. dammit, that image shattered my brain into a thousand, tiny, screaming pieces, but i forgive amon because HE AND EMISHI ARE STILL GODDAMN CUTE. *rolls around on the floor*

Date: 2003-08-29 07:00 am (UTC)(As with Ban's Kiss of Life bit, no one warned me and my brain crashed. I avoid spoilers under normal circumstances, but with this series I'm all for an early-warning system, hence I do my part. Upon objective consideration GB's not really an anomaly in the history of shounen manga - JoJo's scary, and let's not talk about Patarillo - but it is one of the oddities.)
Patarillo?
Date: 2003-09-03 06:51 am (UTC)Thank you soooo~ much for the ongoing v.22 translations, BTW...my own Japanese is at the word-by-word decoder-ring level of comprehension. Now if Sasuga's would just send me my copy...can't wait to read 'em with the pictures ^^;;

Re: Patarillo?
Date: 2003-09-03 07:38 am (UTC)Is it? I'd always assumed it was shounen, perhaps because it was drawn by a guy. And also because most of it didn't particularly seem to be girly material, shounen-ai to the despite. But... well, I guess that makes it a bizarre shoujo manga, as opposed to a bizarre shounen manga. XD
You're welcome to the translations. ^_^ I've been enjoying your fic, btw, I have ff.net set to alert me to them.
This series has something for every fangirl
Date: 2003-08-29 11:58 am (UTC)So what is with Akabane anyway? WTF indeed. I am confused by the events of recent zasshi, so that's a sign I need to redouble my Japanese efforts, though it'll probably take years before I'm that level.
Re: This series has something for every fangirl
Date: 2003-08-29 02:30 pm (UTC)Heh. You and me and - er, wait.
It's very fun. And for a series containing so much gratuitously odd and/or borderline tasteless fanservice (not that I mind tastelessness per se XD), it stands up awfully well to analysis. Densely populated, is what it is.
Akabane? ...Umm, not sure really, given that I only skimmed those chapters and am only now settling into the read. He sort of got himself killed due to massive distraction at the "beauty" of Ginji's fighting technique during a melee, though. >_> (His opponent knows him and calls him by first name, but I haven't figured out more than that.)
Re: This series has something for every fangirl
Date: 2003-08-29 03:46 pm (UTC)Well, I'm pretty enured to tastelessness after reading through GTO. In comparison, this is mild.
Re: Akabane. He got slashed by guy-dressed-as-monk, right? The "I'd call it OCC if it was in fic but this is canon" moment happens later, I think.
