Re messenging
Aug. 11th, 2003 10:42 pmIn response to various queries: no, I don't have AIM, I'm afraid. ^^; Not at work, not at home. I did on the old computer, which is why the username is up, but didn't bother to install the software on the current one. I... well. Not a big chatter, as you may have intuited. XD Nothing to do with the people, purely to do with the medium - I find it combines the worst excesses of telephone and email.
OTOH I welcome ridiculously lengthy electronic mail exchanges, as some of you already know to your chagrin. XD Just fire away to the lj address, it goes to whatever is the right mailbox du jour.
EDIT -- my eighth straight day of work ran 9AM - 9PM. (The focus group meeting was actually interesting, as these things go. I got to sit behind a one-way mirror and listen to a lot of life stories, and browse on way-too-many complimentary Brie sandwiches and cappucinos. Am starting to realise that I really am one of those disgusting people who like continuous learning curves and challenges at work, because I bore very easily.) Inevitably, I should be in bed. Just as inevitably, I'm downing a stiff g&t, eating the last slice of my sister's birthday cake and blogging. ...The fic, ça tire vers sa fin. I wrote the potentially difficult bits first, so I don't think it'll be very hard to wrap up. Remain only a couple of "free-floating" sections near the beginning, which I think I'll make about whassername - Rina? Reina? GB!Remiel, the one who isn't Natsuki - just to go three-for-three re minor recurring female characters. So yeah, now would be a good time to confirm what her name is. XD
I get the feeling this is one of those things that - sensibly - didn't make it to the anime. But has anyone else noticed that Ginji has these lurid fantasies about HEVN? The thing is, they're never about him and HEVN, they're always about his friends and HEVN. ^^;; Like, Shido. Or even evil!Kazuki, upon which Himiko was just like, "...Dude, someone did not get the memo."
My theory, insofar as I have one, is that Ginji gets turned on by watching Ban grope HEVN all the time. Except he doesn't realise it, because... Ginji is in lack of clue, basically. But we love him regardless.

Date: 2003-08-12 04:26 am (UTC)It's probably for the best; these two programs together suck away a painfully large chunk of my life. X_x On the other hand, I've gotten to know some amazing people who've changed my life and stuff, met more people who just amuse me, and etc etc so yeah. Uh. Yeah.
BTW, I finally listened to "Regret." Imagine my shock when I realized I KNEW the song! I used to listen to this song on the radio when I was a kid and I really liked it and I never had any idea what it was! (This is like how I randomly discovered "Always" by Erasure nearly 8 years after I first heard it and desperately wanted it for my very own.)
I really like the regular New Order versions best, in this case (in fact, I think I like the regular version more than the mix, possibly just because it's shorter ^^;), but I like the punkish cover too. ^^; I'm collecting punk covers lately, it seems... Weezer does Mrs Robinson, MxPx does Drum Machine Joy and Summer of 69, Goldfinger does 99 Red Balloons, the Ataris do Boys of Summer... this fits right in there, as far as I'm concerned.
Although with regret I'm discovering I heard the words wrong as a kid. I'm trying to eradicate it from my brain, but currently I have the bad habit of singing the following when I'm not paying enough attention:
I would like I place I could call my own
Have a conversation on the telephone
Wake up every day, that would be a start
I would not complain who my roommates are~
yeah, I dunno. ^^;

Date: 2003-08-12 08:13 am (UTC)There's a recent punk album that was all covers (unfortunately, they also all ended up sounding the same, so I don't know that it's a good album) that I heard in a pizza place recently. I wish I could remember the band, though....

Date: 2003-08-12 09:49 am (UTC)I think there are a bunch of different CDs where punk bands cover songs... like "Before they were Punk" and "Punk Goes Classical" or whatever (maybe not that one), etc...
