Get Backers (up to #10)

...But he didn't blow up all of MakubeX's computers at the end! Honto ni yokatta. XD
Okay, so I'm a dork. But I was touched that he built this supercomputer out of, like, a gazillion 486s scrounged from landfills. (I like MakubeX as a character. No more than one might expect, really. In fact I almost like Ayamine-sensei as a character, what with his boobies-love, his Mac-love, his neurotic perfectionism coupled with lack of confidence in his artwork, his constant griping about having to guess the script in advance, his not-so-secret conviction that Aoki-sensei is in denial and Kadzuki and Juubei are totally doing it, etc. It's really sad when the free talks point out more yaoi subtext than one picked up by oneself. All I was thinking near the end there was that I wouldn't want Akabane in my thoracic cavity; Ginji all brimming with ninjou and the good doctor's probably in the corner thinking, "oh, look, spleen. <333")
I have like a billion things to say about Ban's relationship with Himiko and Ginji's psychology and whatnot, but I'll save it.
There should be fanfic about Kadzuki's tribal ancestor, the cross-dressing master musician with an extreme organisational fetish, and Juubei's tribal ancestor, the loyal court acupuncturist whose family made a fortune on embroidered carpets. They fight Kamakura-era crime! ...Okay, I'm very tired.
...You know what would make a really great battle vid of this story arc? Sisters of Mercy, "Lucretia, My Reflection".
(Well, it's all battles, of course. As shounen fighting manga it's very formalised, which isn't a bad thing necessarily.)
I hear the roar of a big machine
Two worlds and in between
Hot metal and methedrine
I hear empire down
I hear empire down
I hear the roar of a big machine
Two worlds and in between
Love lost, fire at will
Dum-dum bullets and shoot to kill, I hear
Dive, bombers, and
Empire down
Empire down
I hear the sons of the city and dispossessed
Get down, get undressed
Get pretty but you and me,
We got the kingdom, we got the key
We got the empire, now as then,
We don't doubt, we don't take direction,
Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me
We look hard
We look through
We look hard to see for real
Such things I hear, they don't make sense
I don't see much evidence
I don't feel
I don't feel
I don't feel
A long train held up by page on page
A hard reign held up by rage
Once a railroad
Now it's done...
I hear the roar of a big machine
Two worlds and in between
Hot metal and methedrine
I hear empire down...
We got the empire, now as then,
We don't doubt, we don't take reflection,
Lucretia, my direction, dance the ghost with me...
EDIT -- you know, I want to write that historical Juubei x Kadzuki thing. (Because it's manga, and the way manga works is, X's ancestor is actually X with a different hairstyle.) I'd do it comic-script-style, and it'd be the most original and useless GB fic evar.
Never going to happen, though, because we've already established that I can't write Japanese historical. ...Sod it, I have to finish this email.
