Return of drabble (ParaKiss)

serendip, regarding Hiroyuki. You see - I'm still on the ball. XD I've had six beers/coolers in the past few hours, so there may be typos, but wordcount says 100, so.

Hiroyuki studied like everyone else but the effort bore him results: first, second in his class. Fast-tracked for acceptance at a prestigious university, and (his guidance counselor said) Japan would always need doctors. In his parents' minds it was settled.
They assumed that if he was good at something, he'd keep at it and enjoy himself. It wasn't precisely untrue.
Hiro wondered, though: barring ancient history, would he have followed Miwako and Arashi? Could he have? Mostly he thought not. He'd never had their mysterious inner compass, that sense of true north. And they—
They'd never understood tracks at all.
***
So actually I attended two separate barbecues, after the street sale (two cute tops, one cute miniskirt, several items of cute underwear that you will only know by hearsay, a cute camouflage purse, the cutest beret EVAR. Sumeragi Twins meets Amélie levels of ky00t. I think I will actually wear it when I attend Shoujocon, to sicken you all with the cuteness, and incidentally would anyone like to share a hotel room with me?). Ate quantities of gently carbonised cow, drank an entire six-bottle pack of various beers/coolers by myself, met about fifty people and impressed boys with my knowledge of esoteric comics by people like Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. (Thank you,
dipping_sauce. I guarantee you that there is still hope for the human race.)
Did indeed meet the d00d who wanted to play go (he was the one Danielle dragooned into driving us around). Pay attention to this next part - d00d only started playing go hardcore a few weeks ago due to Hikaru no Go fannishness. D00d is quite fond of manga, and in D-id-est-normal-person's absence asked me to define "shoujo". Commentary fails me.
Also, d00d likes New Order (quote: "who doesn't?"). Also, d00d is a programmer and owns a bazillion computers, one of which is a Commodore. Also, d00d is English.
...Bash over head? Stuff in purse and smuggle home? Yeah, pretty much.

Date: 2003-07-14 05:51 am (UTC)Anyways, yeah, if you need a second/third to split the room cost with, and don't mind a second/third who is a random guy you effectively don't know, I'm here.
Otherwise, will probably just wind up crashing at my parents' place and commuting in...

Date: 2003-07-13 09:33 pm (UTC)I really, really shouldn't go, but goddamnit, the only other con I've been to this year was a total bust, and -- it's shoujocon.
Is Erin coming?

Date: 2003-07-13 09:38 pm (UTC)(Erin doesn't think she can make it. I'd like to drag her down if at all possible, and just have her crash in my rm, but it really depends on her.)

Date: 2003-07-13 09:47 pm (UTC)Hm. Gimme until... uhhh... Wednesday to figure out if I can afford it?
Or, well, if someone offers you space before then, obviously, grab it. But.

Date: 2003-07-13 10:11 pm (UTC)... doesn't the hotel have net access, actually?
Will you bus down, or what? I can definitely do the pickup thing, anyway, since I'm at least going to go for a day.

Date: 2003-07-15 03:57 pm (UTC)Unless you've got someone else, in which case - woo! I can afford it. Huzzah huzzah. So put me down for a share.
Of course, if you can find a third, that's cool, too (I wouldn't mind doing a two way split and then sharing with Erin anyway, unless that's too expensive...)
... you have a Narcissa, right? *shifty-eyed look* (Ever heard the story of how Brust and Bull started /Freedom and Necessity/?)

Date: 2003-07-15 07:43 pm (UTC)(I have a Narcissa, yes. A somewhat odd teenage Narcissa, with a streak of Anthy mixed into the cool grandeur, but she exists. ...Do I *want* to hear this story? XD)

Date: 2003-07-14 06:08 am (UTC)You better bang him over the head first, before I beat you to it. XD
Fanks for the drabble. *pets Hiro* He almost makes me want to write Parakiss fic. Then again, I would pick the one random character to fic about. The rest of them are too obviously "likeable" for me to fic them, really.
Have fun at shoujocon. I will be slaving away for the bar and sobbing incoherently. Not that I have gone since that one time, but still~!!
