petroniaItta doori, now reading Get Backers. (I need an icon for manga, methinks, but then which do I use if I want to talk about manga and music at once? Most series I read nowadays find their own soundtrack, organically and very quickly. SSAE wanted electro, ParaKiss took Love Psychedelico and Chara, HikaGo not much beyond BoA and its own soundtrack. Get Backers is all Elastica, all the time. It's weird how that happens. I sit down in my computer chair to read, and a couple of chapters in it's like the tankoubon says in this little voice, put Elastica on the 'amp, j0.)
It... still looks like Mannerist painting. ^_^; I think it has to do with the general "shape" of the character design - long graceful limbs and necks and sort of bottom-heavy, lines of hair and clothing whirling about in energetic tatters. Kazuki looks like a Parmigianino madonna, and I don't believe that's a boy any more than I believe Ginji used to be a cold-hearted gang leader, soit-dit en passant. The art style is going to define this one for me, what with the omni-sexuality wattage turned way up like in Tania's various Ohbari Masami anime. I could see where there could be slash, and that too is rather reminiscent of Ohbari Masami (whose animes were always incredibly slashy, which drove me nuts, because they tended mightily toward silliness and flying DDD boobage. ...Actually some of them were deadly serious, thought-provoking even, but with character settei like that? ^^;).
So far I don't see a plot. But it's no hardship to read. *g*
