Further note
Jan. 3rd, 2003 11:39 amI forgot to mention in the last post, under "meta", that I really quite enjoy the scoosh.
Because there's something darned special about having to squint sideways at a pairing designation for five minutes before you manage to make out what the names are. (And then, if it's RPS, you mostly run away in fear. Oh well. At least Smallville doesn't bother me, although that would mostly be because I don't know who anyone in SV is. And LotR is... well. Yes. I remember someone - who was it? - saying that people who write HPsmut should picture themselves reading their story in front of Jo Rowling as an anaphrodisiac, shame on them for twisting wholesome children's lit thusly. You'll forgive me if I say I think this is as true for any other fandom as for HP, and that Jo Rowling is by no means the most frightening potential bugbear. I'm not sure I'd bat an eyelid at reading slash to Joss Whedon, but if I should ever need to self-induce cold sweats and fainting spells all I'd have to do is imagine myself explaining the concept to ol' JRRT. I'm sure a number of the temporal authors of the Bible would actually be more laid-back about it.)
