petronia: (music)
[personal profile] petronia
(It isn't, actually. I've been considering this particular icon for months, because it's watashi-rashii on so many different levels. I'm spectacularly lazy about doing things for lj. I've had the same picture for a year, I've just now figured out the lj-user tag, et cetera...)

Anyway. To remain on the physical and not metaphysical level, I have to make a music post. So I'll tell you about the mix I burned for Tania to console her for the closing of her favorite club (and to tide her over until we can scope out Dark Wave Night at Saphir ^^;):

Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Joy Division - Passover
Rammstein - Engel
New Order - Bizzare Love Triangle
Depeche Mode - Lie To Me
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
Velvet Underground - Venus In Furs
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Depeche Mode - Strangelove
Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf
David Bowie - Golden Years
Depeche Mode - Master And Servant
Placebo - 20th Century Boy
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
Depeche Mode - Nothing
Trans X - Living On Video (remix)
The Cure - Just Like Heaven (unplugged)
Joy Division - Decades
Brian Eno - Needle In The Camel's Eye (...I *know* I got this off Priya...)

A wonder the thing didn't explode right in my hands, come to think of it.

The pleasant surprise about this one was the track sequencing, which was arrived upon more or less haphazardly but runs on little greased wheels after the whitespace's been clipped. I'd swear the first five or six songs were built around the same chords. Thus you have Dave Gahan trailing off into that snare drum line that always (daft Mancs) makes me think I'm about to hear a Pat Benatar song, which boots up Rammstein's whistle bit which is essentially the same intervals Ian Curtis was singing... ...I'm sorry, Buck-Tick is distracting me. First the Joy Division song that sounds like Midgar, now this. I swear this is the FF7 bossfight theme, she says with a suspicious sidelong glance at Uematsu-sensei.
