So agree with the Stephen Hawking idea. I wonder if he knows about online avatars? I was reading a design book on avatars where a kid in a similar condition found solace in his Warcraft character.

Now that they're going to start opening art galleries in virtual worlds (http://www.serpentinegallery.org/2008/05/cao_fei_rmb_city.html), they might as well look into enlisting scientists for virtual research. That would be so awesome.

I fired up Second Life to check that joint out, but the screen blacked out on me again - it did that the last time too. This motherboard swap isn't all it's cut out to be. XD;

Last I heard IBM is developing virtual-world company intranet software. So actually, in a few years we'll all be plucking our Excel spreadsheets from trees.

Thinking of joining this thing, even though it looks like it'll eat my life. Between this, Warcraft and the Kuma-chan webworld... We may not have flying cars, but we're definitely in the future now!
