WHITE SNOW, BLACK WATER
If you live in balmy climes and/or the Southern Hemisphere and would like a reminder of what winter's really like
01. Patrick Wolf - Idumea
02. Faye Wong - Lotus In The Snow
03. Tori Amos - Winter
04. Patrick Wolf - Penzance
05. Sting - The Hounds Of Winter
06. The Arcade Fire - Tunnels (Neighborhood No. 1)
07. Jesse Somfay - As The Snow Dances Gently Through Her Hair
08. Astreal - Snowflake
09. Nakamori Akina - Kisei ~Never Forget~
10. Innocence Mission - Snow
11. Belle And Sebastian - The Fox In The Snow
12. Maeda Yuki - Sarasara no kawa
13. The Go Find - Ice Cold Ice
14. David Sylvian - Blackwater
15. The Kings Of Convenience - Surprise Ice
16. Björk - Frosti
17. Björk - Aurora
...Can't think of a bonus track. ^^; For
bladderwrack. I did not "merely run a text search for songs with 'winter', 'snow' or 'ice' in the title"; that is a vile canard. ...The first version of this had several murder ballads on it, like Nick Cave's "Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow". That's where having some sense of one's recipient comes in; I wouldn't pull that with everyone. XD; The final take retains atmospherics only. Fairly proud of the sequencing, though.
I've posted half of the tracks here before, some recently, some years ago - lots of favorites. The ending is ripped straight from Vespertine. I've been abusing the Jesse Somfay album for middle tracks; the title of this one makes me laugh. The only excuse for naming a song that is if you've been hotboxing your basement and marathoning Kanon while snowed in, which (given that Jesse Somfay hails from the same regions of the world as Scott Pilgrim and Owen Pallett) is probably not too wide of the mark.
You will enjoy this if you like: singer-songwriters, enka, Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"
Next is
sesame_seed's, but only once she finishes listening to it. XD
** Well, except for SSBB.

Date: 2007-12-20 02:24 pm (UTC)Ah yes. That's probably why I haven't tried to do one of these. XD Because I realise only my sister would really love it if I did exactly what I wanted to do, in which case I should really just fling a CD her way. XDXD
