Chateau Flight - Baltringue (12.1MB): highly catchy French house. Dansudansu points are awarded for usage of disco triangle, steel drum presets, and a "bouncy" bassline.

Depeche Mode - The Sinner In Me (Ricardo Villalobos Conclave Remix) (19MB): has been knocking around for a while - I remember posting about its inclusion in a Villalobos live set in March - and finally released as part of The Best Of Volume 1 (Remixes). This is one of those microtribalhouse tracks that sound like sitting on Mount Royal and listening to people play the bongos, except after a while Dave Gahan gets up and starts to sing.

Rex The Dog - Maximize (17.6MB): latest Rex single. I saw a ridiculous number of bad reviews for this, from which fact I can only conclude that people hate fun. It is kind of utterly bonkers though... See the little guy in my icon? Picture him wearing a cape and flying through the air, fighting crime with an analog synthesizer. DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG

Yesterday there was an ice storm. A little ice storm, not Storm of the Century standard - a few thousand households without electricity due to downed power lines, a few uprooted trees along Queen Mary Boulevard. By the time I left work the damage was mostly done and the sidewalks clear, but trees and fences and cars and grass were coated in a glassy, half-centimeter sheath of ice; branches bent and laden, glistening under the streetlights. This is like that, beautiful and bleak.

We had half of the fir tree in front of our house struck down by the wind. Except for our building, at least two blocks away from St-Laurent were w/o electricity - the sight is always a bit surreal with the tree morphed into solid crystal.

At the exit of Metro Namur, there were at least three broken umbrellas in each of the trashcans, which made me think that it was almost a good thing that I forgot my tiny ultra-portable ultra-frail umbrella at home.

Yeah, my sister was out during the worst of it and she said an umbrella only served as a sail so the wind could carry you off. XD;

You didn't take any pictures either? I sort of wanted to but was too lazy to go in, get the camera and go out again.
