petronia: (music)

Wanted to go to the museum during lunch break today but was foiled by rain. Of course now it's gorgeous out again. >_>

(Also, have just had a retarded yet compelling story idea while in the lav. Ever notice how the idea fairy loves to hang out in the lav?)

Some music from the backlog--

Aerospace - Summer Days Are Forever: forgot this from the Karakura summer mixtape. Then forgot to make a note of it when I stuck it back in (and when I took down the mix in question). ^^; In any case, here it is now.

Chicane - No Ordinary Morning (Radio Edit): I vaguely think of this as a Rukia song. All my Rukia songs are of the same narrow genre; who knows why... Have been pondering a Kuchiki FST comprised of sappy jazz piano, sappy synth-string trancepop, sappy jpop about falling sakura, etc. XD

UA - Strawberry Time
UA - Ringo Tsuibun
(10.6MB)

I grow to appreciate Turbo more as time passes; I'm glad I bought it in the first place, since I've never seen it for download otherwise. XD Much of it has to do with developing (sideways via techno) a better ear for dub rhythms, but the tracks veer into acoustic folk and pop as well. It's a great summer album, of the lying in tall grass and watching the clouds change shape variety.

Spitz - Natsu ga owaru: from 2002 1993. Upbeat, estival, brass section, etc. IMO latter-day Spitz tends to lay on the strings too heavily but I can never, ever fault Kusano Masamune's melodies. Even if Geir Hongro became emperor of the universe I reckon I'd still have Spitz.

The Knife - Marble House (Booka Shade Remix) (13.3MB)
The Knife - Marble House (Rex The Dog Remix) (12.2MB)

When I saw these up for download the first thought that came to mind was "IMPERIAL COOKOFF." [1] It's difficult to establish a meaningful comparison, though, since the Rex mix is of the "make original bigger, shinier and dancier" type, and the Booka mix is of the "make unrelated track that samples the original for a key riff" type.

[1] This makes no sense unless you've seen Jewel in the Palace. Which I still have to finish.

..."Natsu ga Owaru" is from 1993, isn't it? From Crispy.

Is Crispy 1993? XD There I go believing the ID3 tags.

Crispy is 1993. If it were 2002 that would put it smack in the middle of Mikazuki Rokku. ^^; Handy discography (http://mysite.verizon.net/dlgoodwin/bob/spitz/discography.html)

Just loving that UA track, 'Ringo Tsuibun'. It goes really well between Boards of Canada and Dub Tractor in a 'passing out' sort of playlist.
