The umm hockey fandom on LJ/DW doesn't use francophone sites much, I don't think? Also, I still can't get over that there's a "LJ/DW hockey fandom" in this sense. XD But in any case, if you're curious to see something I've been working on for much of 2011/2012**: beta.rds.ca

(It's been purposefully leaked to social media already, so no reason not to post it AFAIK. Launch is in two weeks.)

** and/or a ton of PK Subban-related blog speculation, I guess......

That looks like a cool site! What do you mean by "working on it"? Are you a writer/programmer there?

...What is this site? Sorry if I'm slow. *g* I'm going to assume that your big project is not actually creating a french sports website. Unless it is?

(ALSO HOCKEY FANDOM IS AWESOME. Although currently much of it involves making my Canadian friends explain things like 'cross-checking' and 'penalty shots' while I try to will the Blackhawks and Jonathan Toews to victory during game time.)

Yes it is, actually. XD I worked pretty intensively on strategy and business requirements for this over the course of a year or so, before it went into full-scale development. It's the web site of RDS, Canada's foremost Francophone sports TV channel (the equivalent of TSN in English). RDS are the ones who broadcast Canadiens games, so this is one of the most-viewed sports sites and online blogging/discussion communities in Quebec.

I couldn't really talk about it before it launched, obv, but the sheer amount of time I've spent hanging around dudebro hockey broadcasters for my day job is the reason I find the idea of hockey fic fandom incongruously funny, though I'm sure it's wonderful XD (football was, from my limited perspective!).

Oh wow; that's really cool! If only I could read it. :p (SO DO ANY OF THESE DUDEBROS KNOW TOEWS? *coughsalot*)

Actually I have a friend who's going to use this...she hits all the francophone sports sites as she's an absolutely massive fan of baseball player Erik Bedard.

I just wish someone would tell me if Eric Gagne's autobiography has anything about the 2008 Brewers in it. Nobody else seems to care besides me and I'm not ordering it sight unseen.

Oooh, Philippe Aumont is blogging there? (my French, frankly, is non-existent. boo.)

(I'd tell you about baseball fandom. In that sense. But only over private mail, they're totally freaked about the 4th wall)

Certainly all of them know someone who's interviewed Toews in the locker room; no idea if they've met him personally (the Habs sometimes come in for the Web stuff, of course... if he did it would be in the Olympics context I guess). I doubt they would have hung out socially, though, if that's what you're asking. XD
