Last night Tania and I watched five episodes of Live Action Sailor Moon. A-grade crack. It differs rather from the anime - apart from the obvious, I mean; in a fannish continuity-and-characterisation sense. My knowledge of PGSM is rigorously casual but Tania could discourse excessively on details of costume change between manga and anime etc. In any case I'm very sure that anime!Rei was not... not... not so much of a Mirage of Blaze sweeps-period-arc guest star. XD;; Also watched hilariously breathless making-of. The director takes his job v. v. seriously. Someone must have drawn a manga about girls picked to star in a live action mahou shoujo sentai show. Ebil unsmiling director! Pervy cameramen! Otaku paparazzi! Morose wisdom-dispensing guy in rubber suit! Original series mangaka who always smiles and smiles but you never see her eyes...
Ahem. Wanted to make another fandom note re what
starlighter said in her last entry about Ichigo and Rukia and respective in-laws, to the effect that... well, Byakuya's parents are thankfully dead, or else it would be an Adam Sandler movie, wouldn't it?
Wouldn't it?
If you thought it would be smooth sailing after that fight on the execution mound, wait until you... MEET THE KUROSAKIS! Coming soon to a theatre near you. [/Don Kanonji voice]
Tania returned from her conference in Toronto with a bootlegged DVD of Mirage of Blaze as omiyage for moi (so bootleg, in fact, that strictly speaking it's "Mirage of Blade"). Tonight I'm going to inspect Golitzinsky's new digs in Park Ex. Two things I will have on me are said DVD and quantities of beer. The rest depends on how much bad karma I feel like racking up. What the hell, it's been a long week.
