(From [livejournal.com profile] akatonbo's scans, found in this entry. Mataseta no de gomen ne.) The really spoiler next-to-latest Shounen Mag chapter. In other words, here, have some angst-flavoured angst topped with angst and a heaping serving of angst on the side. >_>

GetBackers Act 10, Chapter 47

I started with page 6, because that's where the important part begins, but I'll add to it as I go along.

In other GB news, I did what I should've from the beginning instead of wibbling, which was sit down and read through all of volume 23 in careful detail. Helps to remember how well-written the thing really is.

Semimaru wanted to revive his son, whom Akabane couldn't save on the battlefield, with Kabuto's power. A lock of hair is all you need to work from, or so at least he believed. However their conversation gives me the impression that his son was not the same Ginji-lookalike kid that you see Akabane with in the flashback; no, whole 'nother source of angst that. >_> Or I could be dyslexic and on crack, I'll let you know when I decide.

Miyama Genshuu tells Himiko that sorrow is a mirror in which truth is revealed; the enemy's strength, and what oneself should do. Semimaru talks about it too, to Akabane. Says he can see teh angst underlying Akabane's poisonous strength. Implies it's something like self-hatred. (Speaking of Himiko, has she actually used that Red Death thing before? Can't remember it. It's like one of Akabane's attacks. ^^;)

Shido tells the gang that there's two ways of reviving Madoka: either Amon gives her his heart and she continues living as Kabuto, or... and we don't get to hear the second option, and everyone's o_O and asks Shido if he really means to go ahead with it, but I assume he does. So Kadzuki-tachi presumably had some warning.

Who's the white mage chick with Kurusu?

Ban: "That's not the strength I mean. Raitei's almost flawlessly strong, but he holds a part in the very depths of him that's as fragile as one of these birds."
Ginji: "Really?"
Ban: "Well. Probably only someone like me would know."
Ginji: "Huh..."
Ban: "There's a limit to what people can do by themselves. Raitei's no exception."

Ban: "Shut up. Himiko and I'll definitely turn them back into humans and show you."
Kagami: "Lady Poison and you...? Heh. Hahaha... I see. That should be worth observing. Will such a miracle really happen? If you make it happen--"
Ban: /He's--/
Kagami: "The 'moment' will move, won't it now?"
Ban: /Brain Trust's--/

Duh duh duh dum, to be continued... >_>

...I'm really not happy with that boy right now. :P

BUT DOESN'T THAT MEAN THAT SHIDO IS NOW GOING TO GO AROUND SUCKING THE LIFEFORCE OUT OF EVERYONE WHO COMES NEAR HIM?!

To the best of my (very limited and almost entirely by way of your own translations) understanding, that's because he's Natsuki, not because of the chimera? Kamata Juurou implies it in #22, at least.

As for the translation... *curls up in a little ball of angst* Augh. But thank you! I'm sure that will help with the fic-incubation. (Am horribly tempted to ignore the reference to having been kids together with Shido in favor of the implication on p16 that he's older than he should logically be (i.e. of an age with Shido and the rest of that age bracket of the cast). But that's just my thing for unhappy immortals showing. *coff*)

EEE!!! You even *realize* how much reading I had to go through in an attempt to justify a young and so-very-impressionable Akabane having been on the Western Front in 1914 (and meeting d'Annunzio, Aleister Crowley, and, separately damn near everyone in the Futurist movement...)
