Seriously no TezuAto that does it for me out there, and the ironic thing is that I'm not even bothered, because all I have to do is put "Cross With You" on. ^_^;;; In fact, I'm not sure I would care more than nebulously for the pairing if I'd never heard the song, because the yaoista part of my brain goes offline when I watch/read the series proper. (Yes, it screws me up, because it means I'm mostly only convinced of pairings insofar as I find my friends convinced. However the makers of the damned series won't let me be gen, or let me be period. I angst. Charmian, how do you do it? >_>) Teh Song, however, is the TezuAto that does it for me. Maybe I can do a translation of the lyrics and pass it off as fic.

I think I would panic if you took this mp3 away from me.

Morikubo is innit. He plays Kirihara. Also, Atobe has a pony white throughbred mare in his back yard. Help, cannot stop laughing.

Huh? How do I do it? I dunno. I guess my inner fanboy-animus is very present so I like to rank the characters by strength, etc. The fanboy-animus represents the part of the fangirl that enjoys the series like a twelve year old boy would. Oddly there are few male PoT fans around. I guess they exist somewhere, but it is amusing to see that in LJ-land at least, there are more males who enjoy Getbackers, Fruits Basket, and CLAMP than PoT.

Ah. Indeed, Konomi and his team seem determined not to leave a single possible OTP in the stupid series; once you get to Rikkai you'll meet *Inui's* non-Seigaku hunk of love, fr crying out loud. I suppose I'm lucky I don't have your problem, since for me yaoi for any series is a question of what I want to see/whether I'm willing to run roughshod over any canon het or other possible matchups.

Then again I'll allow myself to be convinced of pretty much any PoT pairing as long as the story's well-written. XD;

I think I've decided that I can't see Tezu/Ato. Not particularly because of TezuFuji, no, I simply can't see Tezuka and Atobe being compatible this way.

It doesn't prevent me in any way from reading well-done Tezu/Ato, but I was considering their interactions and deciding that no, it's just not there. The tension.

I hear that! While still waving a little flag of OTP-ness. *snicker*

The other day, I was thinking Saeki/Fuji. Then I said to myself, "Self, go to bed."

At least it wasn't as weird as Ryouma/Jirou...and no, don't ask me where that came from.

Oh, Saeki/Fuji is *very* possible. Childhood friends, indeed. XD I have this theory that everyone in Seigaku has an affair with a non-Seigaku player, e.g. Tezuka/Atobe, Momo/Kamio, Ryoma/Shinji, Taka/Akutsu. Still waiting for Kaidou and the GP to find their non-Seigaku hunks of lurve, but then agan there's mix-and-match Seigaku pairings *KOFF*Momo/Kaidou*KOFF*, so. XD

(that said, I really don't know where you got Ryoma/Jirou from. Fuji/Jirou is obvious; Fanboy!Jirou over anyone strong is equally so, but really.

Feel tempted to bet on someone eventually writing a PWP where Ooishi and Oshitari <strike>coerce their bendy redhead ukes into S&M</strike>, actually. Yes.

I think it's best for everyone if I don't talk about it. Hem.

You couldn't bet me, you'd have to BRIBE me. But, um, I might be bribable. For that. Maybe.

AHA W00T SAIKOU~~ XD

Now all we're missing are - ah - the fic in which the good fairy turns Karupin into a bishounen, and the fic in which Coach Sakaki is in fact Akio, and Hyotei are Duellists for the End of the World. Yes.

(Is incapable of getting into a shounen series without doing the ritual Utena crossover)

Am decidedly not a Utena fan. No comment.

Can't we just be happy with Sakaki being seme over everyone in Hyoutei? XD

I don't so much like to rank characters by strength typically, because in a shounen series they're always training and advancing and developing new techniques, often in the middle of a match-up, so it's pretty useless insofar as predicting the logical course of the story. I do fantasy coach stuff, though, depending on the sport, like making up lines and strategies, and trying to predict how games will go.

Say, even if Seigaku loses to Rikkai they're going to Nationals as #2 representative, right? In which case it'll be like Slam Dunk, they'll lose but attain Goal I, the anime will end and the manga will go to Part II. This way you have tension for when they play Rikkai again, inevitably as the respective teams work their way up the elimination tree. I figure even in the National Final 4 we'll end up with Rikkai and Fudoumine, unless one or the other gets knocked off by an even scarier team for dramatic effect...

I think the male fans have gotten scared off. (Hells, I suspect the male fans in Japan have gotten scared off. >_>)

The thing with me is, usually it's just obvious. As in it will come and drag me by the hair whether I like it or not. In PoT... I dunno. I really like MomoRyo but I want to read amai-kei dj for it more than I want to fic. I like InuKai but it happens to be the one that's written really well by other people, which automatically eliminates all desire in me to write it myself. XD After that it gets... blurry. GP I see but it doesn't have enough WOAH ANSGT HOROR for me, and I'm not going to make Talya cry by making it up when there shouldn't be any. *g* AkuTaka I just wouldn't be able to pull off.

I want to write schtuff about Tezuka and Fuji - and Atobe - more or less in a character-study sense, and (I strongly suspect) as an excuse for litwank. All the story ideas I get there are either non-relationshippy or so overwhelmingly relationshippy in the decade-long slash epic sense that I scare myself with them, and can't picture writing them at all.

...I could move on to the rival teams and analyse my feelings there, but I think I've been pretty boring already in this comment. ^^;

Jirou is so cute. So, so cute. I wish he'd stay awake long enough for me to slash him.

Honestly? I would've said Oshitari = Juri. Ootori is really obviously Miki, though, and Atobe *would* be Touga... if he weren't so like Nanami. No getting around it. (Kabaji could be Tsuwabuki! Ahahahahaha okay I stop now.)

But Echizen is too short to be a model. Oooh, the crack. XD

We could do that. XD But surely there must be doujinshi? I mean the Japanese are all over Oshitari x Atobe, which makes zero sense to me though it's admittedly pwetty. I mean if one had to do intra-Hyoutei one may as well follow along with Monnie and do Atobe x Jirou, because turning Atobe into a sulky uke is a bit of a waste of a character. Gakuto is already a sulky uke, you hardly have to fudge a thing.

Possibly Sakaki as uber-seme of the bishounen harem is just a bit too pimptastic for the fandom-at-large... *hears Nelly playing in the background*

Really? It's one of the ones I can get behind the most, in terms of the canon actually giving a bit of dynamic to work with. ^^; TezuFuji on the other hand... I like the both of them, but what it is, I think the Fuji in my head just isn't very sexual. At least not in the conventional sense.

He's a very light figure, Fuji. Intentionally light.

Point. (Though Monnie isn't the first to do Atobe/Jirou; Alex (on request) and a couple of others were already writing it.)

Re: Sakaki x Atobe - there was an episode of RajiTeni where Atobe's trying to reply to live fanquestions, and everytime he's about to answer Sakaki calls him and he ends up telling the listeners what Kantoku likes instead. Was all dubyoo tii eff on first hearing it, but Sakaki *likes* keeping on top of things, I'd say. XD

Yeah, strength rankings are useless for forecasting; to forecast you need to read the meta and the themes. But they're amusing in the "could Dr. Doom beat Batman sense."

Yes, the top four teams from Kantou are all going, so Fudomine and Rokkaku are okay. ^_^ Although someone noted that they introduced Rikkai players early, and we haven't seen any of the other rival schools to come, thus making me nervous about the continuation. Of course, that can be explained by geography... I agree that Rikkai and Fudomine will make it to the Final Four, because it makes sense for plot reasons.

The male fans in Japan have gotten scared off? Come now, that can't be. These are the same males who buy Getbackers manga, after all.
