Baby diary: 59 weeks 1 day

 A's had a lingering runny nose for a while, which turned into a lingering ear infection, and on top of that he caught a different, nastier daycare virus, so on the morning of the Chinese New Year he had fever, worse snots, cough, and goop coming out of the corners of his eyes. >_< Had to take him to get antibiotics prescribed. Clarithromycin this time, since he's booked for an amoxicillin challenge due to all that rash business in October. By Monday I was felled by the fever and dry cough, though at least I didn't have eye goop. Grandparents watched him Wed and today while I dragged myself to work; oh, the jolly japes to be had at one's expense this week when one is a Chinese person with a bad cold. Tomorrow I "work" from home.

(Also on CNY: a load got stuck in the washing machine for 48 hours, and someone I knew not well but lengthily died with shocking suddenness. It did not seem to me that the Rat was coming in on a tide of joyous portents.)

Positive notes? Alan plays "ostrich" when teased, giggling and hiding his face in the cushions as if that were the same as running away. He can sit now on a foot stool, though he sees no reason to, versus the floor. And he's gradually weaning himself, I think; he still fusses for the breast but doesn't actually take much milk, as it doesn't come fast enough to satisfy him. He drinks cow's milk and water when he's thirsty but his appetite has gone from huge to nil with this last cold, and I know how he feels, having myself lost 2lbs.
