Baby diary: 20 weeks 5 days
May. 6th, 2019 07:57 am A. has realized that being on his tummy is a skill tree, and he doesn't have the points to unlock the next nodes yet. He can't push the buttons on his activity center to make the toys pop up, and he can't crawl. He's starting to make the right motions with his legs but not his upper body, so he just pedals himself into downward dog and smushes his face into the mat.
He's also practicing different noises, like yelling (not crying), or various laughing sounds, or lip smacking when he eats.
I finally clipped his toenails -- after nearly 5 months. My mom's been insisting about cutting his hair, and she'll have to do it: it's so copious it needs to be properly shaped, and I don't have that skill set. XD;
DnD group came over to game on Saturday and it was fine! A.'s never interacted with that big a party at once, but he does see people a lot. He got some presents, including a large floofy baby penguin, and a sparkly multicoloured dragon plush.
It's sunny, 24C inside the house, and that already makes it sticky to hold A. for long periods of time. XD; But on the bright side, I can finally wheel him to the park (though we haven't had time yet).
We're starting to realize that A. looks like my dad's brother, i.e. his grand-uncle. This is, basically, because I do, although no one's ever remarked on it: there are very few people in my life who've even seen us together in the same room. But the resemblance has loomed at me from the mirror now and then, usually when I've been bloated and sallow (it did after I gave birth to A). I've liked my uncle in person, he's always been nice to me -- and he's an energetic and successful man -- but there are some complicated feelings and history there that I won't get into.
