I just figured something out accidentally
Jun. 18th, 2007 06:09 pmKylie Minogue - Falling
M. Mayer - Falling Hands
Unless it's supposed to be obvious, but - unlike "Slow" - I've never seen it mentioned anywhere. It's a gorgeous remix, qua remix. XD The original is this floaty, "sophisticated" 90s Eurohouse confection, and Mayer samples Kylie's whisper-vocals into a cloud of silver confetti. (Does anyone have the Pet Shop Boys version? Though I should probably go ask on
petshopmusic or something. EDIT -- got it, thanks to
cynic_in_charge. It's... very Tommy february6. XD)
In somewhat related lulz,
James Figurine - 55566688833
James Figurine - 55566688833 (Superpitcher & Tobias Thomas Mix)
I found the second track randomly on Beatport and was all, didn't I blog this song a year ago? Isn't it a Postal Service/Dntel side project thingy re: how to spell "LOVE" on a cellular phone keypad? Do die Menschen von Kompakt also read Music For Robots, or do they just have wussy taste in indiepop? (Answers: Y, Y, probably Y, Y)
This is considerably less recognizable as a remix than the Mayer track, which only goes to show - the song gets cut up into "organic" samples and reassembled into something that sounds rather like Four Tet, sans vocals.
***
I haven't been posting because I've been writing and going to house parties thrown by strangers ahaha. Album reviews to come tonight, though.
