Reading Bujold again, 130 pages into A Civil Campaign. Geezus. Are the Vorrutyers gothic or what? It was a nasty shock just finding out that there were more of them. ^^;

And Ivan, who appears to cultivate his native intellect like a bonsai. Don't get me started.

Yes. Yes, you did. *thump* Goddamned Vorrutyers. She should write a whole book about them, you get the feeling it'd be like Barrayaran Gormenghast.

Well, at least there seems to be the usual sort of plot coalescing from the edges. When I saw the dedication I was afeard there wouldn't be. ^^; Much as I sympathise with the urge to get all those romantic loose ends tucked away.

I want a book about young_Aral, damnit. It could be Gormenghasty and also include Bothari sex!

You know there was Bothari sex... even if we'd both rather there wasn't.

... so, have ya met Lady Dona yet?

I want the young!Aral book too. Not so much anything else, but because Cordelia stepped into the Aral+Barrayar psychodrama in the third act - sank right up to her knees in the climax and then we got the explanation (over a few dead bodies both actual and metaphorical). Stories told incompletely from the wrong end make my fanfickey-sense tingle. Bujold's probably never going to write it, though. >_>

...Bothari sex. Great, now I'm going to keep thinking it. I hope you're satisfied.

And yes, I've very much met Lady Donna. Lady Donna was in fact what prompted the first ejaculation of Damned Weird Vorrutyers, not Byerly. It's funny, because none of this would weird me out in the least if I were reading it in some other writer's series.

Speaking of young!Aral, it turns out the first wife was also a Vorrutyer?... I don't remember that being mentioned. Should probably go check the book again, it's upstairs somewhere.

Yep, I remember that. ... because of By's snide, and all.

Then, instead, I give you the idea that I would fic if I had any balls and it wasn't totally self indulgent:

Elli x Ivan.

After Ivan gets a space comission. And they have their own novel full of antics together.

And no, they don't get married.

What, not Bel Thorne and the quaddie? *g*

It's picturing Ivan anywhere else but in Vorbarr Sultana that's the odd thought. Well, he was on all those diplomatic missions...
