Oh hey

If you were going to serialise a manga, what artist/series would you rip off out of love pay obscure homage to?

Yama Miyuki! No one knows her stuff, she deserves being advertised~~~

OH GOD, that'd be fun. I'd rip off Clamp (DUH), make a snide joke at Rumiko Takahashi at some point, pay homage to Sailor Moon, stick in the most obscure of references to Xenogears, and... *thinks* I'd have to work in Fruits Basket, somehow. Maybe use the zodiac theme and similar hair colors on the characters. Come to think of it, I think I'd try to work in references to ever story and song that I ever got obsessed with, plus some others to be a retard.

Hmm. Yuki Kaori? Ai Yazawa? But then, if I ever were to serialize a manga, it would be shounen, so I don't know if that would make any sense.

Itsuki Kaname. She is somewhat obscure, no?

- Hiroki Endo
- Ryoichi Ikegami
- Katsuhiro Otomo
- Sanpei Shirato
- Masami Kurumada
- CLAMP

I'd probably have many obscure/a few obvious references every where, because these guys are the pillar of support of everything I know about manga. ^^

(pretend all the same surnames/names are in the same order, not all scrabbly like that >>)

Ryoichi Ikegami, <3333. And for series, probably MPD Psycho & Nodame Catabile.

sailormoon, man. totally. default sparkly poses and everything. and i'd make a horribly bloody shounen manga because my love for naoko takeuchi flows in that direction.

also, leiji matsumoto and go nagai.

*irreverent*

...and osamu tezuka. everyone else is a lesser god.

My hypothetical serial manga is 100% Kaori Yuki, but to be honest, if I were to rip someone off it would probably end up being Yukito Kishiro. Battle Angel Alita/Gunm was the first or second manga I ever read and it had a huge effect on me. Especially if I were writing sci-fi.

Yoshida Akimi, so I can write about transgenic twins and pretty boys who know how to kill skillfully and angst beautifully. XD

I've already thrown a Gunsmith Cats homage into one story that was more-or-less directly inspired by Kenichi Sonada. Besides that, I think I might try to reference Death Note (before it went crappy), XXXholic, Blade of the Immortal, and maybe Bleach and Scott Pilgrim.

Ai Yazawa, absolutely! And after I read Cafe Kichijouji, probably that too.
