I thought that was kind of a given, that Pound had this kewl fangirl theory about how Chinese worked without the least knowledge of the language itself. Based entirely off its reading and nothing to do with speaking.

(Doubtless due to coming at it from Japanese where 1 kanji = 'now how do you read that here?', but I was slightly kerblonxed when I finally realized from watching Woxin subtitles that 1 hanzi = 1 Chinese word. Wait that's too simple it *can't* work like that...)
