I guess he is reaping the consequences of his absentee dad-status! Dear daughter not only steals cars, but this is the sort of boy she starts hanging out with!

I guess at some point he ran out of bands he liked and so had to turn to the world of high fashion? (Because in the short story collection, there's that story about the cat, and he's named Dolce, and I haven't finished going through w/ the dictionary, but the guy dresses up his cat...)
